Sony Pictures Television might still be searching for a home for SWAT Exiles in the States, but the SWAT spinoff has officially found a home up North thanks to the network behind one of 2025’s biggest original series!
Bell Media has announced that it has secured the rights to the first season of SWAT Exiles and will be bringing fans in Canada the first season of the show in 2027 as part of CTV and Crave’s midseason lineup. The news was announced as part of the network’s 2026-27 programming slate reveal, with CTV and Crave becoming the first official home to the highly anticipated spinoff.
Interestingly, the search appears to still be on for a stateside home for SWAT Exiles, as no US-based network has picked up the show just yet. With season 1 eyeing a midseason launch in Canada, it’s likely that Sony Pictures Television is working hard to find the show a home for US fans so that the series launches in early 2027 in the US as well.
While many wondered whether CBS could enter the mix, the odds of CBS picking up SWAT Exiles is looking unlikely. The same goes for fellow broadcast networks ABC, NBC, and Fox, who have all locked in their schedules for the 2026-27 season and have not been attached to the spinoff. That’s not to say that one of the networks might not enter the mix and pick the show up; it’s just looking unlikely given that the networks have already revealed their fall schedules and their midseason lineups are locked in for the most part.
It will be interesting to see if HBO Max shows any interest in the series, which has been expanding its portfolio lately and has a strong relationship with Crave following the success of Heated Rivalry. With SWAT Exiles slated to air on Crave in Canada, it would be a perfect move for HBO Max to pick up the US rights and air the season weekly timed to its release in Canada.
Another streaming service that seems like a perfect selection would be Netflix, which is home to all eight seasons of SWAT. Upon arriving on Netflix, SWAT has become a favorite among subscribers, and it would be a perfect fit for Netflix, especially with shows like The Night Agent ending soon.
Hopefully, it won’t be long before US fans know where SWAT Exiles will be available for them to enjoy the Shemar Moore-led spinoff. It’s at least a positive sign that the show has found a home, as hopefully a US buyer will follow Bell Media’s lead and lock down the rights for a 2027 US release!
