We've made it: The final of the BBC juggernaut The Celebrity Traitors is here, and you can rest assured that it will be gripping the nation with its twists and turns. That is especially true after the penultimate episode of the series featured that never-before-seen surprise when James Acaster revealed to the Roundtable that he was a Traitor - before he was banished.
The second season has generated a lot of buzz online due to the surprsing controversies surrounding the Traitors, their tendencies to accidentally - or, intentionally - reveal to the group that they are Traitors, and get themselves banished. And that brings us to the Final, as Claudia Winkleman looks to guide the Fauthful (and the two remaining Traitors) through the last day in the castle.
Before that, there will be one more murder, as the Traitors hope to make the group of Faithful that little bit smaller. But who will be taken out as the players head into the final day? After Michael Sheen's Poirot-level deduction in the penultimate episode, will Maya Jama and Kenny K look to take him off the board? Will they come for Bash Croft once again? Or is James Blunt, the potentially secondary threat, the one they will look to remove? All will be revealed in the Final of The Celebrity Traitors.
Who is murdered?
The final murder of the series is a big deal. After losing James, the Traitors need a win and they deduce that the murder must be either Sebastian Croft or Michael Sheen. Naturally, breakfast is quieter than before, as less celebrities remain. Ultimately it is revealed that Michael Sheen is the last player to be murdered.
That leaves us with our six finalists: Bash Croft, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Kenny K, Romesh Ranganthan, and James Blunt.
The players are understandably startled by the whole thing. Michael was the leader of the group, so to do the Final without him is disheartening for them. And this puts a lot of heat on Maya, which she obviously intends to fight.
Taking to the skies
That brings us to the mission: All the gold is hidden in two underground bunkers. Find the bunkers and open them: Dynamite. If they retrieve the gold, they will add £18,500 to the prize fund. Half will get into the buggies while the other half take to the skies in helicopters. The sky team retrieves dynamite while ground team must correctly identify correct bunkers.
They team ultimately achieves the goal, with Bash, Maya, and Leigh-Anne all taking rides in helicopters to bring the dynamite back to the rest of the team. It's all very action-heroey, with Bash specifcially standing out as the final one to set the dynamite off, helping the team achieve their objective.
Afterwards, they return to the castle to discuss who could be a Traitor. The running theme is that Leigh-Anne and Maya have the most heat on them. One is a Faithful and the other is a Traitor. The question is: Will they banish the right one?
The Roundtable
Maya and Leigh-Anne unsurprisingly take the most questions. While Leigh-Anne defends herself well, Maya's somewhat louder reactions result in more suspicion. Leigh-Anne redirects the questions to Romesh, with James Blunt following up on that too.
