The Hunting Party just dropped its first trailer that hints at the action coming for this new NBC thriller!
Midseason always brings some big new shows with NBC often giving us some crime thrillers. That includes The Hunting Party, which is slipping into a new timeslot on Mondays in February with The Voice as a lead-in. It looks to be a spin on the classic setup of a group of law enforcement agents hunting criminals.
The trailer sets up the premise of “The Pit,” a top-secret underground prison home to the worst criminals and killers on Earth. A massive explosion rips through the facility, allowing scores of the inmates to break free. Former government operative Rebecca “Bex” Henderson is recruited to lead a team to track the fugitives down. The reason she’s called on is because the prison is so secret that the government can’t even acknowledge there’s been a breakout at all.
Thus, the team is basically on their own, hunting the fugitives without official government backing, which complicates things. The trailer gives a big push to the action with the big escape and the first hunt.
"The Hunting Party is a high-concept crime procedural about a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist. "
Who stars in The Hunting Party?
The cast is highlighted by Melissa Roxburgh as Bex. The actress is best known for her roles in the NBC/Netflix sci-fi series Manifest and Quantum Leap and the star power to handle the role.
Also in the cast are Josh Mackenzie (La Brea) as Shane Florence, “a former soldier and current prison guard”; Sara Garcia (The Flash) as Jennifer Morales, “an intel officer and major in the Army”; Patrick Sabongui (The Flash) as “CIA agent Ryan Hassani”; and Nick Wechsler (Revenge) as Oliver Odell, “Bex’s former partner,” per TVLine.
The series comes from JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn, who produced the short-lived 2022 NBC crime drama The Endgame. It’s likely a longer trailer comes as the series approaches its premiere date.
The show has an intriguing premise and a good cast to stand out. Some midseason NBC shows do become surprise hits, and having a big hit like The Voice as a lead-in can help in the ratings. So viewers can get set in 2025 for some new crime thrills as The Hunting Party begins its unique search for adventure.
The Hunting Party premieres on Monday. Feb. 3 at 10/9c on NBC.
