OA is in for some big changes on FBI and actor Zeeko Zaki is hinting at what's coming!

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for FBI Season 7 Episode 8

Throughout Season 7 of FBI, OA has reconnected with one of his old army buddies, Clay (Guy Lockard). OA realized Clay was involved with some shady deals and enlisted him as a confidential informant, with Maggie worried OA was letting his friendship with the man cloud his judgment.

In “Riptide,” the team was tracking who was responsible for a heist of a cargo container of gold that led to the deaths of several officers. Clay seemed to be working with the team but when the heist turned into a shootout, OA realized Clay was trying to steal the gold for himself.

What happened with Clay in the FBI season 7 midseason finale?

The two fought with Maggie interfering and OA ended up forced to shoot Clay in self-defense. It affected him majorly, especially after he’d confessed to Maggie that Clay had helped OA when he was a prisoner of war and aided in his recovery. Being forced to kill his friend is a huge blow for OA.

Speaking to TV Insider, Zeeko Zaki talked about the scenes and what it meant and will mean for OA in the future.

"I think there’s some insecurities and some vulnerability when it comes to being a prisoner of war that OA experiences and doesn’t want to show that weakness or show that he ever did get caught or ever did sort of fail a mission like that, especially when our relationship is based on doing these missions every week. So I think there’s something like that and I think it would’ve definitely taken a final straw or a real intense, a real down moment for OA to sort of share that. And I’m happy we got to get it out of the way."

Zeeko said that Maggie is “OA’s rock” in this and will be there to help him as he figures the guilt over shooting Clay will be a long-term story that will carry into the season. But that's not the only big stuff coming for the character.

What’s coming for OA in FBI Season 7?

Zaki shared some teases for what’s coming for OA in FBI Season 7. That includes the return of girlfriend Gemma (Comfort Clinton) in Episode 13 and that:

“She’s going to get really some good stuff to sink her teeth into. It means a lot for the relationship. She gets caught in the fire with OA in a way that I don’t think anyone’s going to see coming and it’s going to be really fun to play.”

He added that he hopes to see this relationship continue as he enjoys how it shows OA outside the FBI offices and able to connect to a regular person. Hopefully, whatever Gemma gets into isn't going to wreck that connection.

Zaki also touched on the unexpectedly fast exit of Syd (Lisette Olivera), who had just joined the show as Scola’s partner, but the actress has already departed the series. It sounds like the show will play a bit with Scola paired with either OA or Maggie in some episodes before he gets a new regular partner. Zaki said he enjoyed the stories of OA and Scola as a "buddy cop movie feel."

"Right now we are a three-headed monster, which is super fun to play because all of our chemistries sort of all fit together, the three of us really well. So we’re excited. Lisette was amazing and it was super fun to get to act with her and play with her, and we’ll see who they bring in next to be part of the family."

So as OA prepares to handle the loss of a friend and some big changes, it sounds like FBI fans are in for even more drama when Season 7 returns.

FBI Season 7 returns on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 8/7c on CBS.
