Updated Nov. 13, 2023 – We were first introduced to The Neighborhood back in 2018, and we can’t get enough of the comedy! It’s been such a great addition and staple to CBS since its debut. So what’s the latest news on The Neighborhood season 6?

The show was created by Jim Reynolds, who also serves as an executive producer. Joining him in EP duties are lead actor Cedric the Entertainer as well as Eric C. Rhone, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, Dana Honor, Meg DeLoatch, Bill Martin, and Mike Schiff. Here’s all we know about the sixth season ahead of its release!

The Neighborhood season 6 release date confirmed for February 2024

Fellow fans we have amazing news! CBS has confirmed the official return date of the sixth season, and we just have to be a bit more patient. The Neighborhood season 6 premieres Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Paramount+. The series is the first returning show for the network that’s been delayed by the strikes (more on that below).

Initially, the comedy was supposed to return in fall 2023. But since that first schedule came out, things have changed due to the Hollywood strikes. Most of the broadcast networks have pushed their new seasons, like The Neighborhood, to the midseason schedule. And that’s why we can expect season 6 in February 2024. Even if the wait has been longer than usual, I’m not going to complain. I’m just happy we finally have a release date!

The last episode of the fifth season aired in May 2023, but we had the confirmation that another season was happening all the way back in January 2023. This was a few months before the season finale was even broadcast. Even so, it seems like the writers rooms for the sixth season hadn’t started work on the new installment before the writers strike began.

With the delays due to the strikes, networks are looking at shorter seasons for their dramas and comedies. According to Deadline, The Neighborhood season 6 will only be 10 episodes, with filming resuming in early December 2023. This is a big cut compared to previous seasons that mostly were 22 episodes long.

All five seasons of The Neighborhood are currently streaming on Paramount+. If you’re not already subscribed to the platform, it costs $5.99/month with ads or $11.99/month without ads. When the sixth season makes its debut, it will air on CBS then stream on Paramount+ the next day.

“Welcome to the Milestone” – Calvin struggles to find the perfect birthday gift for Tina. Also, Gemma works a connection to actor Jerry O’Connell, whose kids attend Walcott Academy, to secure VIP tickets to THE TALK for her school’s fundraiser, on the100th episode of THE NEIGHBORHOOD, Monday, April 10 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*. Series star and executive producer Cedric the Entertainer directs the milestone episode, featuring guest appearances from the hosts of Daytime Emmy Award-winning THE TALK: Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood. Is The Neighborhood season 6 affected by the strikes?

Yes, The Neighborhood season 6 has been affected by the writers strike and the actors strike that began on May 2, 2023 and July 14, 2023 respectively. As mentioned above, the plan was to bring the show back as part of CBS’ fall 2023 television schedule. Every year, that’s when we expect a new season. However now, the new installment has been delayed and is not even coming back in 2023.

Since no writers were working on scripts at that time, as well as actors, production on many shows and movies shut down. The good news is that starting on Sept. 25, 2023, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), who represents the big studios, were able to come to an agreement! This means the writers strike is over and writers rooms for many shows reopened, and the writers could get back to work. This includes The Neighborhood season 6, which reopened its writers room the week of Oct. 2. The three-year agreement is in effect through May 1, 2026.

And now beginning Nov. 9, 2023, the stars are able to get back to filming! That’s how CBS has been able to schedule out a rough filming return date. The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and AMPTP were able to negotiate a three-year tentative agreement, which means the actors strike is over! Members of the guild need to vote on it, but work can now resume for the onscreen talent.
