Apparently, the exclusive This Is Us cast group chat has a limit of ten members.

The This Is Us group chat sounds like one of the greatest things ever. We keep learning more and more about the delightful and aggressively endearing way the cast keeps in touch while they’re not shooting their show or busy with other projects.

By all accounts, they use the message thread to encourage each other, compliment, joke and make dinner plans, proving — in case you needed any more proof — they’re just as close as their on-screen family.

We first learned of the This Is Us group chat in January at the Golden Globes, when Chrissy Metz told the Golden Globes red carpet folks that:

"We have a group chat, we are chatting constantly to each other. And when we get to see the episodes, we’re always complimenting each other. We’re like, ‘Oh my god, you’re amazing!’ You know, they’re masters at what they do. Yeah, we really are that close."

Luckily, this was not the last we heard of the mythical group chat. At NBCUniversal Upfronts in May, the cast joked with Entertainment Tonight about the thread. From family and cast patriarch Milo Ventimiglia:

"A lot of gifs and memes and fun things.  We’re just a bunch of goofballs. We’re there to support one another but also lift one another. It’s really no joke."

Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin, added:

"Sometimes it’s a little much to be honest with you. It’s a constant thing. But that’s how we keep in touch with each other. We have become, very fast, we have become such a close family and I miss these guys, they’re like my brothers and sisters."

From Chrissy Metz:

"Memes to gifs to jokes to just what are you up? Can we grab dinner? To like, we miss you, we miss each other, when are we getting back to work?"

Unfortunately, Metz also recently revealed that the group chat is exclusive even within the cast and crew due to the 10 member limit. She told Los Angeles Times:

"There’s 10 of us — 10 is the max, which is terrible, because I think that it should be limitless."

Well, isn’t that the most This Is Us thing you’ve ever heard.
