More from Movies

After a successful weekend as the top movie at the box office, Kingsman: The Golden Circle lived up to its billing as a fun and ridiculous action movie for fans of entertaining movies. The introduction of Statesman along with touching music and even bigger set pieces built on the legacy of the original Kingsman film. More importantly, though, the sequel said goodbye to a handful of notable characters that topped the death toll of the first film. Here is a look at the best death scenes from the sequel.

Destruction of Kingsman

Fans knew about this “twist” due to the trailers for the film. Poppy fires missiles at Kingsman headquarters and residences around England to destroy the organization. However, the death of the Kingsman still proved a bit tough since Roxy died just as Eggsy showed his gratitude to his best friend and best agent. Additionally, Eggsy’s friend and JB met untimely deaths due to their sheer luck of being in Eggsy’s house at the wrong time. Finally, the other agents and Arthur died one by one because Eggsy and Merlin did not realize the Charlie’s robotic arm hacked the Kingsman database.

Charlie

As a neat surprise, Matthew Vaughn brought back the former Kingsman candidate as a villain. He survived the end of the world party in the original film since his chip malfunctioned and blew off his arm instead of his head. Charlie has a few great fight sequences against Eggsy throughout the film. Charlie’s death reveals the fury within Eggsy as the Kingsman agent mercilessly breaks Charlie’s neck as revenge for the destruction that the former candidate unleashed upon the organization due to his rejection from the Kingsman. Eggsy in a sense finally conquered his past when he killed Charlie, who brought out that underdog mentality in Eggsy dating back to the first film.

Poppy

Poppy Adams put forth a worthy villain that pushed Eggsy and Harry to their limits and even forced the two agents to work with Sir Elton John to defeat her. However, Poppy does not quite measure up to Richmond Valentine as a villain. She seems much more shallow in her motivations to destroy the world. She simply wants drugs legalized so that she can make money legally and gain worldwide fame as other successful companies do. Nonetheless, Poppy still provides an intriguing villain due to her dual personality as a caring mother and sadistic psychopath. Quirky until the end, she dies to the poison, which she created, just before she muttered the ridiculous password “Viva Las Vegan.”

Whiskey

Agent Whiskey gave viewers plenty of funny and thrilling moments such as his classic “Manners Maketh Man” scene. Harry blasted Whiskey in the face, yet Eggsy and Ginger revived him. Although Whiskey did not work for Poppy, Harry’s original suspicion, Whiskey did want to punish drug users throughout the world. He told the tale about how a couple of meth heads murdered his wife in a robbery. His vendetta nearly doomed the world, but after an epic final battle between the skilled agents finished, Whiskey met his end in Poppy’s meat grinder.

Merlin

In the agonizing death of the film, Merlin sacrificed himself at Poppy Land to thin Poppy’s forces for Harry and Eggsy. Merlin discussed his desire to contribute more to missions with Ginger. This mission allowed him to say goodbye to his friends as well as sing his favorite song, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” from John Denver. Merlin helped Eggsy and Harry gain entry into Poppy Land while he took out the first set of defenses for the location. As a crucial part to Kingsman missions, Merlin will be sorely missed for his invaluable skills that have assisted Eggsy and Harry and other agents throughout the years.

As anyone can tell, Kingsman: The Golden Circle was a bloodbath. Many characters lost their lives as well as the other people around the world that may have died to Poppy’s poison. Underneath the flashy action, the movie can be a bit dark if one pulls back the curtain. Nevertheless, the film still proves itself an entertaining and worthy sequel that should entertain audiences until the third film.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is now playing in theaters everywhere.
