Game of Thrones has been confirmed by HBO for 2019 and released details of who will be on the crew.

More from Game of Thrones

We last left off with a serious cliffhanger at the end of season 7. Spoiler alert if you’re not caught up on the series!

The White Walkers did their big evil deed and now the kingdom of Westeros is in serious danger. The acquisition of a dead dragon by the Night King penetrated The Wall which borders the north end of the kingdom and now an army of the dead approaches. Game of Thrones fans will have to skip this year and wait until 2019 for the season 8 finale show premiere. HBO took to their website to bring forth their confirmation and included among the post were details on the big names running the final season.

"“The epic fantasy series Game of Thrones will return for its six-episode, eighth and final season in 2019.David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be the directors for the new season. Writers for the new season are David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill. The executive producers of the series are David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield. Co-executive producers are Bryan Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin.”"

Entertainment Weekly was on top of the Game of Thrones news last year regarding where they would go with season 8 as there was some speculation of skipping 2018. Reason being was because they wanted to really spend some extra time on their baby to fine tune and craft their passion to provide a satisfying and entertaining viewing experience.

Next: When will Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere on HBO: Here’s what we know

Even though Game of Thrones is ending, the word is out that spin-offs will also be on the minds of creators. That being said, the world building for this series is going full steam ahead and it’ll make you wonder what’s going on with those kingdoms mentioned in the show, but not fully detailed. There are edges of the map yet to be explored, so the goal here is to take this medieval universe to the next level.

What’s your take? Would you like to see a spin-off of the series?
