Saving people, hunting things, the family business
By Callum Gunn
The Supernatural motto which every fan can recite on cue, ‘Saving people, hunting things, the family business’, might need to be renamed.
It’s a debate for another day but there are many Supernatural sayings that could be classed as the official motto. One of the most popular however is “Saving People, Hunting Things, The Family Business”. First mentioned in Season 1, Episode 2, “Wendigo,” the saying has certainly been around the longest, maybe only second to “Dad’s gone on a hunting trip.”

However, this age-old saying might need to be renamed, or at the very least permanently alter your view of the motto, after some very eagle-eyed fans made a great discovery amongst the Winchester family and couldn’t help but apply it to the family business.
The ultimate hand me down
Occurring across various different Supernatural episodes, it was noticed that Sam, Dean and Young John Winchester happen to be wearing the same shirt. Of course, a discovery like this couldn’t help but be pointed out and be referred to as, the ultimate hand me down.
It didn’t stop there however and things then went on to the following;
"‘Covering things, saving shoulders, the family shirt’"
You can’t help but laugh at this. Problem is can you ever hear, or even say, the original motto without thinking of this now?
