Christian Bale is unable to watch the current Batman movies since the Aurora, Colorado shooting, though he admits he’d love to see them someday.

It’s going on six years since the Aurora, Colorado shooting. The incident occurred during a movie showing of The Dark Knight Rises. Anxious comic book movie fans took to the midnight premiere in a sold out event only to be met with tragedy by shooter James Holmes who shot into the crowd, injuring 70 people and killing 12.

Christian Bale was indeed not immune to the grieving process as he had paid his condolences to those who lost loved ones in the mass shooting. Bale even visited victims in the hospital to cheer them up following the incident. He did this on his own volition which shows how much of a stand-up guy he is. Bale also requested no media be present during his hospital visit. This was likely due to keeping things on the down low and personal.

Over 5 years later, Entertainment Weekly now reports via the Happy Sad Confused podcast that Bale has not seen The Dark Knight Rises. The idea of sitting through the movies doesn’t sit well with him. Christian did say he would be interested one day in seeing it.

"“Very sadly, I have not been able to watch that film since because of Aurora. I have not been able to sit down and see it without thinking of that,” Bale revealed speaking of The Dark Knight Rises."

Considering this was opening night for the Warner Bros. movie, it would stand to reason that he would associate the tragedy which soured him in seeing the flick.

However, he later mentioned that he’d be “interested” in Ben Affleck’s rendition of the Dark Knight, so maybe we’ll get his feedback when or if he crosses that bridge
