During Fox’s TCA panel for Legion Season 2 this past week, Noah Hawley, creator of Legion revealed that Season 2 would pick up quite some time after Season 1. Although, Hawley failed to elaborate any further.

More from Hidden Remote

At the event, Legion’s panel began with a clip from Season 2. The clip in question showed David (Dan Stevens) waking up in a field. He then goes to a fortune teller’s booth and finds Amahl Farouk, an incarnation of the Shadow King who appeared in Season 1. Said clip cuts off shortly after but this is presumably one of the first scenes in Season 2. Whether or not it is or isn’t, Hawley’s comments following the clip are of much interest.

After the clip, Hawley told the audience in attendance that a time jump would take place between Season 1 and Season 2; one that lasts a year. Hawley went on to explain that his intention going into Season 2 was to keep fans on their toes, giving reason to the time jump:

"“There is this time jump, for him to come back and suddenly the world is a very different place. I didn’t want to go in season two (like) it’s all clarity all the time, so we built in a time jump. We can muddy the waters again. I think that’s the fun of the show, the mystery of trying to figure things out.”"

Apparently, Hawley is trying to throw fans for a loop. Rather than starting off exactly where Season 1 left David Haller and his cohorts of Summerland, the newest season will pick up at sort of a mysterious point. There’s no telling where that’ll be, but we should anticipate some major developments happening before and after the jump in time. The question is, what?

What’ll Happen In Season 2 Of Legion?

Without guessing or speculating too much, Season 2 will likely depict David’s whereabouts following the mysterious Season 1 Finale; along with showing what he’s done for a whole year.

After David was captured by a mysterious flying orb in the Legion Season finale, his destination remained unknown. We know Division 3 isn’t responsible because of their defeat earlier in the episode, but another mutant hunting agency could be responsible—possibly Sentinel Services.

In the far-off chance that Legion crosses over with Fox’s The Gifted, a branch of Sentinel Services might be connected. The two series are at a similar point in the Marvel timeline, so a crossover isn’t out of the question. Plus, the notion of Sentinel Services developing a piece of tech that can capture mutants seems like it’s right down their alley. Although, it may be too premature for these series to crossover with one another.

Regardless of what happens during that year gap, the people who took David captive will have to appear eventually. Unless they remain in the shadows, David’s kidnappers are probably going to be the new antagonists on Legion. If they are, these antagonists may cause more trouble than the Shadow King and Division 3 combined. Fortunately, David Haller has the mutant abilities necessary to keep them all at bay.

Legion returns for Season 2 in April, 2018.
