Kitty Pryde, a.k.a. Shadowcat, has been in the X-Men franchise for a while now. Her character got her start in the first movie, with the first two appearances rather brief. Ellen Page was the final actor to portray the character with phasing abilities. Kitty Pryde’s existence throughout the X-Men universe didn’t bode well for continuity. That said, do you think this possible new film will cause it to be water under the bridge?

According to Collider, Deadpool director Tim Miller has been confirmed to develop the Kitty Pryde solo movie via 20th Century Fox. He’s said to potentially helm the project. The anticipated X-Men franchise may go through some adjustments since the Disney/Fox merger. There is no telling what those changes could be, if any.

Marvel fans had their concern about the next Deadpool flick not being rated R, but Disney CEO Bob Iger laid that to rest when he talked about a possible “Marvel-R Brand” in this case.

Keep in mind, the Kitty Pryde solo movie is only in the developmental stages, which like other movies in this stage, doesn’t mean it’ll come out in theaters. However, there is still some mystery behind Kitty as her longest involvement on the big screen was in X-Men: Days of Future Past. She didn’t appear in Apocalypse because it took place in the 80s which would mean she would be too young to be an X-Man. That’s where it all gets kind of fuzzy, especially since the reboot.

Perhaps a solo movie will give more clarity or start her origin story completely from scratch? Will she even branch off from any time line connected to the pre-franchise reboot?
