Rejoice! Female-led superhero movies are coming, and we can’t contain our excitement!

The year 2017 was not the best for reasons too many to mention! But 2018 is already looking amazing, at least, if you’re a fan of comic book movies (and a female).

Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d ever write — Thank you, DCEU! The DC Extended Universe beat Marvel to creating a female-led superhero movie, Wonder Woman. It’s the best (and only great) thing the DCEU has had to offer and it has opened the door to more female heroes to kick ass on-screen (and off!) to become a reality. Side note: The person we really have thank is the wonderful Patty Jenkins.

News of an upcoming Kitty Pryde movie (a severely underrated member of the X-Men) made us jump for joy. But when we learned there is possibly a Black Widow movie on the way? The internet and female fans lost it. The feels were too much to take.

More from Marvel Movies

Even though Captain Marvel‘s release date was pushed back from summer 2018 to spring 2019, we’ll be getting our first look at the hero (to be portrayed by Brie Larson) in Avengers: Infinity War

The Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat movie just entered the early stages of development. So while we can’t declare victory until the project moves up to production, we’re choosing to be positive and believe it’ll arrive to theaters in a few years! If it moves forward, it’ll be very exciting to learn all about it in the coming months! Who will star (assuming it’s not Ellen Page)? Who will be involved in the making of the movie? What’s the story? We have so many questions!

Speaking of questions — What on earth took so long for a Black Widow movie? I mean, just like Kitty Pryde, it’s not a done deal. But a Black Widow movie is long overdue.

Scarlett Johansson entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2 back in 2008. Jac Schaeffer (Nasty Women, Timer) has signed on to write the screenplay.

Let’s hope these movies make it to the big screen. Positive vibes, ladies! Which movie are you most looking forward to? Stay tuned as we bring you all the details once we learn more!
