Major spoilers revealed in leaked Lego sets for Avengers: Infinity War

Over the weekend, shots of Lego sets for Avengers: Infinity War leaked online. In them, the Avengers’ new wardrobe lay on display; their wardrobe consisting of new costumes and weaponry.

When it comes to Marvel movies, Lego has become known for “accidentally” letting out toy designs which reveal potential spoilers. The first time Lego came under fire for doing so was before the release of Captain America: Civil War. The toy sets’ early release wound up spoiling the big reveal of Ant-Man transforming into Giant-Man during the major airport scene, and that’s just one example. Various other Marvel movies have seen minor plot details spoiled as well, and now it appears as if Avengers: Infinity War will too. Several images of the toy sets leaked online, giving way to plot points not yet known.

Spoilers Ahead…

The images in question were posted to Imgur, providing us with a glimpse at Earth’s Mightiest in some new getups, as well as packing some new weaponry. You can check them out below.

In the first slide, a toy set for Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Santorum is displayed. The set comes with Doctor Strange, an unrecognizable stone character who resembles Korg, a small figure that could be Meik, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. Most would question Korg and Meik’s presence at the Sanctum but they’re not the most noteworthy out of the bunch. It’s Spider-Man who we should be paying attention to. The reason is his new costume.

The Spider-Man figurine in question is wearing an all red suit with large appendages sticking out of his back. Anyone familiar with this character design will recognize it as the Iron Spider armor, thus confirming its introduction in Avengers: Infinity War. Many hoped the Iron Spider suit would show up in Spider-Man: Homecoming but that didn’t come to pass. Fortunately, Peter Parker will don the armor at some point in Infinity War. We don’t yet know when it’ll show up but my guess is that the Iron Spider armor will be given to Parker after his first fight with Thanos. The trailer teased his first confrontation with Thanos and it doesn’t go well. Let’s just hope Peter Parker learns how to use the Iron Spider armor in time to help his friends save the universe.

Thor Wields The Ax, Jarnbjorn In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

The second slide of intrigue shows off the Guardians’ new ship, accompanied by Rocket, Groot, and Thor figurines. Between those three, the Thor toy stands out the most—mainly because he’s carrying a new weapon, an ax. A tease of Thor’s new weapon was shown in concept art for Infinity War but there wasn’t a clear shot of it. Now however, we can confirm that Thor will take up the ax, Jarnbjorn as his new weapon of choice.

In the comics, Thor takes up Jarnbjorn after he’s deemed unworthy to wield the hammer, Mjolnir. He actually picked up the weapon to fight Apocalypse and kept it by his side for some time after. Thor eventually gained the right to carry Mjolnir again but used Jarnbjorn on various other occasions.

Furthermore, the Thor figurine carrying Jarnbjorn likely means he’s given up Mjolnir completely. And it doesn’t look like there’s any way for him to recover his signature hammer—that is unless he goes back in time to change history.

A Fight For The Infinity Gauntlet Will Take Place In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Thirdly, a slide consisting of Thanos, Iron Man, Gamora, and Peter Quill hint at quite an interesting confrontation. A fight between these two forces was glimpsed briefly in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer but now we may know exactly why they’re fighting—for the Infinity Gauntlet.

In the middle of this toy set, the Infinity Gauntlet remains propped up on a stand of some kind. It appears to be waiting for a victor to pick it up. Could this all be due to someone wrestling the gauntlet from Thanos? The scene does give me the impression that Thanos and Iron Man are racing towards it, so there’s a good chance an Avenger will wield the Infinity Gauntlet before the conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War.

The Infinity Gauntlet holds additional significance because of the stone fitted within, the Reality Stone. While the Infinity War trailer has shown us the gauntlet fitted with the Space and Power Stones, the Reality Stone will come into play at some point. When it does, the entire Marvel universe could get a massive revamp. Images from Avengers 4 do seem to hint at the MCU receiving a reboot of sorts. Therefore, an Avenger using the Reality Stone to change the universe’s fate is plausible. My money is on Iron Man using his new Bleeding Edge armor to race to the gauntlet before Thanos can reach it. Although, that may be dependent on someone cutting off Thanos’ entire hand, perhaps Gamora.

Captain Steve Rogers Packing Some New Heat In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

The final slide of interests depicts a Steve Rogers toy in his semi-new costume. It shares similarities with his Civil War suit but with black tones thrown in. He’s also carrying some new weapons, two blasters to be precise. The Lego image is too small to determine any significant details but Rogers has clearly put aside his shield for more practical weaponry, and for good reason.

The set piece also includes a large alien ship that seems to be the Outriders’ mode of transportation. Rogers will have help from Black Widow to fight them but he’s going to have to be on the offensive to win this match-up. Some vibranium blasters will help him with that.
