Supergirl: Can we talk about that subtle nod to Grey’s Anatomy’s Lexie Grey?!

Grey’s Anatomy fans tuning into the latest hour of Supergirl were treated to quite the surprise via a special nod to Chyler Leigh’s Lexie Grey!

In the latest hour of Supergirl, Chyler Leigh’s D.E.O. Agent Alex Danvers took yet another side mission this time to help her new pal Sam turned to her for assistance in figuring out the cause for her sudden loss of time, fearing that there might be something seriously wrong with her. Always happy to help a friend in need, Alex gladly stepped up to assist Sam in her quest for answers which led to a special nod to Leigh’s time as Dr. Lexie Grey on ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

Hoping to help Sam get answers into the loss of time she’s been experiencing lately, Alex arranged for Sam to undergo a series of medical tests designed to get to the bottom of things.

While prepping her for the first step in their quest for answers, Leigh’s character subtly noted that she was a doctor before joining the “FBI” and was studying to become a researcher; however, the callback to Leigh’s time as Dr. Lexie Grey went one step further when Alex noted that she had a job in Seattle for a while before making her career change as part of a search for more action in her life.

For those unfamiliar with Leigh’s prior work, the nod to Grey’s was likely overlooked, but for fans of the long-running ABC drama it was a touching and fun homage to her time as Lexie Grey – a fan-favorite character whose exit story remains one of the most heartbreaking storylines to ever unfold on the series.

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8/7c on The CW, while new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy can be seen Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC!
