Jessica Jones season 2 trailer: Reasons to be excited

Jessica Jones season 2 arrives this March and there’s plenty to be excited about in the new trailer.

Jessica Jones had a stellar first season and season 2 is set to arrive in March. With about a month left to wait, Netflix dropped a new trailer for the upcoming season. There are plenty of familiar faces in the trailer and some new ones, too. Watch the trailer below and then we’ll dive into some reasons to be excited about the new season.

Jessica’s origin

More from Marvel Movies

A lot of superhero shows and movies get the origin story out of the way at the start. However, while season 1 brought about a lot of Jessica’s past, we never quite learned how exactly she got her powers. In the trailer, it’s clear that season 2 will dive deep into that. Since she’s not a character who has a comic book history dating as far back as her fellow Defenders, there’s not as much source material to pull from. Thankfully, what Jessica Jones stories exist in the comic book world are fantastic. I highly recommend reading Alias by Brian Michael Bendis, which is where she first made her appearance in 2001.

The rise of Hellcat

Trish Walker showed off her determination to be able to protect herself and in the trailer, she’s taking things further. She wants to be there for Jessica and have her back. That likely means we’ll be seeing her make her way towards fully becoming Hellcat this season.

More Jeri Hogarth

She makes a brief appearance in the trailer, but any time Jessica and Jeri share a scene together, it’s bound to be good. Plus, it looks like Jessica will be getting into plenty of trouble this season and will at some point require Jeri’s help.

Is Kilgrave back?

Kilgrave was a fantastic villain in season 1. At the end of the trailer, someone starts clapping and there’s a purple light to everything. We know how much he loves purple, so it stands to reason that they could be teasing his return. It would be quite the turn of events if he comes back. However, there’s another option. Kilgrave in season 1 is Kevin Thompson and in the comics, there’s a Zebediah Killgrave, who is the actual Purple Man. Could we potentially see both appear in Jessica Jones?

Who wants to buy Alias Investigations?

An unnamed man in the trailer tells Jessica that he wants to absorb Alias Investigations. Jessica mentions that he just wants to eliminate the competition. With the two working in the same area of expertise, toes could be stepped on and while this isn’t going to be the most important thing of the season, it’ll have to play out somehow.
