We need to talk about Malec in the Shadowhunters Season 3 premiere

Developing their new work-life balance

Season 3 begins the morning after the celebratory party at Hunters Moon, and though we’re not shown what happened to Magnus and Alec after they left the bar together, Alec does make his way to Brooklyn — and lets himself into Magnus’ loft — in the premiere episode.

As the leader of the New York Institute, and having had a role in the successful defeat of Valentine, Alec is presented with new opportunities and will need to learn how to balance his growing career opportunities with his personal life. Alec is the same confident and authoritative Shadowhunter we’ve come to know over the past two seasons, especially when it comes to protecting his Parabatai and being told the truth about what happened in Idris. At the same time though, Alec still wants confirmation when it comes to knowing that he’s loved and that he’s making the correct choices in his relationship.

(Side bar: We don’t know when he had the time to practice, but Alec has gotten significantly better at playing pool…)
