Maze Runner: The Death Cure is thankfully the final installment to the strained trilogy.

There are some good moments in Maze Runner: The Death Cure. In fact, the action sequences are pretty amazing. There is a fantastic aerial shot of invaders breaching a city, flooding into a single choke-point sealed by the guards. Bombs, rockets, bullets fly as the wave floods forward. It’s a scene many wished would have been in World War Z.

Aside from the action, some have pointed to the ending as a strong point. The group reached a satisfying ending, and no mysteries are left unresolved. At the very least, there is no opening for a fourth film.

Having said all that, Maze Runner: The Death Cure reeks of YA simplicity. Indeed, other than star Dylan O’Brien’s triumphant return from injury, there are almost no unpredictable moments.
