Will Sarah Shahi’s return to Chicago Fire bring Severide and Stella together?
Stella and Severide eventually have to become a thing again on Chicago Fire and the return of an ex-flame may be just the key.
Sarah Shahi is returning to Chicago Fire in a guest arc. She was last seen leaving Chicago again, after it turned out that Severide wasn’t the father of her baby. Her return could mean that Severide and Stella finally get back together; something that has been a long time coming!
Shahi’s character, Renee, will return when she needs some fire expertise for a case she’s working on. If you don’t remember, Renee is a lawyer. She decides that Severide is the guy, as he’s knowledgeable but it also means she can make amends. Renee will appear in the last (at least) three episodes of Chicago Fire Season 6.

Right now, there has been a lot of tension between Severide and Stella. She’s chosen to move out, but he is clearly still pining for her. All this came after a drunken kiss before the first long hiatus due to sport on NBC. Now Stella is dating Zach, but Stella may see that the man she really wants is her ex-flame.

However, this could also just help Severide finally step up to the plate and tell Stella what he wants. She may be just one part of ex-flames coming into his life. Severide is also supposed to head back to Springfield, at some point, where memories of Anna will come up. Plus his mom is appearing in a guest arc, which could help to continue Severide’s focus on deciding what he wants in life—and in a woman.
There’s no doubt that Chicago Fire needs to do something and give Severide some sort of happiness in his life. Every season it’s looked like he could love, only to lose the person. Stella is already loved by the fans, so why not focus on that relationship and give a number of fans what they already want?
