If you feel like you haven’t seen Black-ish in a while, you are correct. The show has been on hiatus for a month now.  So when can you expect the show to return to the ABC lineup with new episodes?

More from ABC

The last episode of Black-ish aired on February 6. You may recall this was a one episode return from their previous hiatus which spanned from January 16 to February 6. This means we have only seen Dre and Bow once since mid-January.

Fortunately, if you need your fix of the Johnson family, that wait will be ending next week. ABC knows how long we’ve been waiting, so they’re giving us TWO episodes next Tuesday, March 13! Each episode centers around Bow and Dre reacting to something their kids have done.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

In the first episode, the two older kids will test their parents. Per the episode description, Dre and Bow will have to confront their gender biases when they find out their two oldest are sexually active. One can imagine that Dre will be proud of Junior, while treating Zoey (who is off at college) as a delicate flower that was to never be touched. I will also predict that Bow will try to use this to relate to Zoey, while preaching to Junior about being responsible. Regardless, this should be a fun episode that tackles a subject that all parents must eventually face. In the sub-plot, Ruby finds out that the twins have been hanging out with a friend’s grandmother after school. Knowing Ruby, this will likely mean war.

BLACK-ISH – “White Breakfast” – When Jack and Diane get in trouble at school, Dre and Bow have to figure out the right balance of discipline and support so that their kids aren’t too afraid of authority nor entitled either. Meanwhile, Ruby thinks Junior’s Spanish teacher is flirting with him, and he begins to realize that girls at school are starting to check him out, on “black-ish,” TUESDAY, MARCH 13 (9:30-10:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. White Breakfast

In the second episode of the two episode return, “White Breakfast,” it’s the twins who take center stage (literally.) In the description for the episode, it says that Bow and Dre are going to have trouble figuring out how to discipline Jack and Diane when they get in trouble at school. It specifically states that they have to find the right balance of discipline and support. The kids will apparently challenge authority in some way. Dre and Bow want to keep them from fearing authority too much, but also don’t want them acting entitled. Based on some of the images that were released, the kids are going to make a statement during a school play. One that is going to catch their parents off guard (see above image).

In the subplot, Ruby thinks that Junior’s Spanish teacher is flirting with him and Junior starts noticing girls are checking him out. Knowing Junior, he’s not going to know how to act when he realizes girls are into him. He can’t help but be awkward so it will be interesting to see how poorly he plays it.

Hopefully, getting two new episodes helps fans get over the long wait. The show will likely be back to finish out the last 10 or so episodes of season 4.

Black-ish returns with back-to-back episodes Tuesday, March 13, at 9/8 central on ABC.
