6 Characters who could die during Avengers: Infinity War
By Shah Shahid
The culmination of stories spanning 10 years and 18 films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes in the form of Avengers: Infinity War and there could be many deaths.
The revolutionary shared universe concept that began back in 2008 with Iron Man, saw plot lines and big-picture storylines be seeded throughout the individual films during the last 10 years, all of which look to be colliding with this third Avengers film.
Spoiler Warning: The following discusses endings, plot points, and details, about various movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you don’t want to be spoiled, exit now!
In a recent EW exclusive, the architect of the MCU and Marvel Producer, Kevin Feige confirmed that any deaths of characters that occur during Avengers: Infinity War, will be permanent. Feige’s remarks are in response to the constant criticism that characters that (seemingly) die during the MCU films, have a tendency to return in a subsequent film with a loophole of sorts.

Now this is a comic book staple, but in the cinematic universe, the non serious-ness of a hyped up death definitely takes away from the stakes of the climax. Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) was all but dead during Captain America: The First Avenger, only to return as the Winter Soldier during Captain America: Winter Soldier, and is very much an important character in the MCU today.
Loki (Tom Hiddleston) seemed to plunge to his death at the end of Thor, only to reappear in a post credit sequence, and become a recurring villain / anti-hero in other films. And again in Thor 2: The Dark World, a dead Loki was seen hilariously posing as Odin (Anthony Hopkins) in the last scene.
Agent Philip Coulson (Clark Gregg) was murdered by Loki in The Avengers, and was actually dead, but was brought back to life to headline the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Series. (The weirdest one so far).
The list goes on…
This time around though, I wonder which MCU characters could die, and how their deaths, either by willful sacrifice, or by defeat, would impact the MCU going forward, post-Infinity War.
So here are 6 MCU characters who could permanently die during the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
