Marvel releases new full-length trailer for Cloak & Dagger TV series

Two very different teens are drawn together with their special abilities in the new trailer for Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, premiering this June on Freeform.

Two months ago Marvel released a sneak peek into their upcoming TV series, Cloak & Dagger. The footage gave fans the first look into the Freeform series based on the comic book characters duo by the same name. Even more importantly, the release of the sneak peek gave fans an official premiere date for the superhero drama.
Cloak & Dagger will mark Freeform’s first foray into the world of superheroes. Marvel is certainly no stranger to the world of TV considering their run on ABC, Netflix, and Hulu. The recent success of Hulu’s The Runaways probably gave Freeform more confidence with Cloak & Dagger considering it too focuses on teenagers struggling with their newfound superpowers.
Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt will be portraying the titular roles of Cloak and Dagger. Both are teenagers from very different backgrounds who wind up with mysterious special abilities. Tyrone, aka Cloak, can use his engulphing darkness to teleport whereas Tandy can produce dangerous light daggers, hence the name, Dagger. Along with a new official poster promoting the Freeform series, Marvel has released the first official trailer for Cloak & Dagger.
The divine pairing
The trailer gives a better look into the lives of Tyrone and Tandy. For Ty, he’s trying to give off the perception of living a normal life as a high school basketball player. In reality, trying to be perfect is now plagued by this giant secret. Instead of facing things head on like Ty, Tandy is the opposite. The troubled teen tends to escape her issues by running away from them. When the two finally meet and discover their powers, staying close might be the only way option. Unfortunately, when they touch, their abilities become dangerous. The trailer also ominously teases that “one will live and one will die.”
The series will seemingly dive into the origin stories of the two core characters, including a possible interaction between them when they were kids. This goes along with Tyrone’s statement, “the universe keeps pushing us together.” It’s as if they are destined to team up after a past event which resulted in their powers. The pair might need to take some time to fully develop and understand one another’s abilities before they can forcefully use them together. We will definitely be tuning in this summer to watch the action unfold.
