Nerdist Presents Pacific Rim Uprising parody music video is incredibly catchy, and features a surprising amount of Jaeger-booty.

The folks over at Nerdist Presents have always been great at coming up with incredibly funny and satirical videos poking fun at the most popular works of geek-dom. Or in their case, nerd-dom? In any case, their latest video is

With the impending release of Pacific Rim Uprising, sequel to the awesome gigantic mech-droids fighting monsters movie, Nerdist Presents latest video pokes fun at the concept of two people sharing a neural bridge, called ‘drifting’.

In the original Pacific Rim, two compatible pilots had to share the duties of piloting the massive droids, aptly named Jaegers. The pilots had to establish and maintain an almost telepathic link, through technology, that allowed them to sync their movements, and coordinate piloting a Jaeger.

“Let’s Drift!” plays on that, as two Jaeger pilots decide to use drifting to showcase some kick-ass dance moves that are just as well replicated by the building sized Jaeger. And strangely enough, the song is catchy enough to make it all work.

Sure, it’s jarring in the beginning to see the enormous mech pop and lock, moon walk and even twerk. I mean, there is a lot of Jaeger-booty in this video that I don’t think anyone needs, but will definitely get ample amounts of. I guess it’s something for people who like big bots, that I can’t deny. But once the song takes off, it’s pretty easy to head bob and toe-tap along to choreographed moves of the Gypsy Avenger!

The tunes and the Jaegers pilots’ over eagerness really sell the song! I’m honestly having a hard time getting it out of my head.

Pacific Rim Uprising releases on March 16, 2018 and stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Adria Arjona, Tian Jing and Charlie Day. The movie is directed by Steven S. DeKnight.
