There’s a new episode of Roseanne tonight, here’s what to expect

Season 10 of Roseanne kicks off tonight. What should be highlighted?

Since I have been a huge fan and grew up on the original series, I am very much looking forward to Roseanne tonight. What are the writers and actors hoping fans get from the show?

The focus on the Conners will be Trump. Roseanne and Dan are supporters. However, on the other side, we have liberal Aunt Jackie. Conflict already abounds. Not that there hasn’t been any in their ways with the three of them. However, Trump’s presidency goes deeper. Neither Jackie or Roseanne have spoken to each other since the election. We know from pictures that Jackie is wearing a “Nasty Woman” t-shirt.

This family is at war over their political ideologies, and there will be no holding back. They will attack each other unmercifully, but this is why we love the show. It’s reality in a televisional sense.

Now, that the kids are grown up, what will be their stance?

DJ is a former soldier whose wife is black. Now, usually, a racially mixed family is more liberal, but being in the military is definitely conservative. So, is DJ a moderate? I’m also speculating that topics such as PTSD and biracial marriage will be dropping off as well. Interesting that DJ has come full circle as well. In the episode “White Men Can’t Kiss” he refuses to kiss the black girl in the play because she is black.

I can almost guarantee that both Becky and Darlene are liberal individuals. Not that their characters couldn’t change, but it adds to the Conner family dilemmas. Darlene is now on her own, and with two children. How the marriage ends is unknown at this time. But, having two children, a broken home, and coming back to live with the parents is not a Republican virtue. However, I’m sure the show will tackle issues such as divorce and single parenting.

With Becky, it will be difficult. She is going through the death of her husband and working at a dead-end job at a Mexican restaurant. However, possibly brought to life with being asked to be a surrogate mother from Andrea (Sarah Chalke).

Roseanne airs new episodes on ABC every Tuesday.
