More from Drama

The second half of Ash vs Evil Dead‘s third season is officially underway. The time for Ash and his team to defeat Ruby and her evil plan is quickly running out. The end of days is near and it’s clear from this episode that there may not be a happy ending for all.

Ash must be elated that Brandy is finally on his side but that doesn’t mean the fight to protect her will get any easier. He gets a little distracted after members of the Knights of Sumeria pay Ash a visit. Meanwhile, Kelly goes on her own mission to find Ruby and she has one thing on her mind–revenge.

Kelly has her own boomstick

Something is happening in the attic. It looks like the kid is transforming into something much more sinister than the toddler we last saw. Before we can find out more about what’s brewing, Kelly has found her way to Ruby. She’s sick and tired of seeing evil go after her friends and family so she goes after Ruby to end it once and for all. Equipped with her own boomstick, she fires a few rounds into Ruby. Of course since Ruby is immortal, the wounds heal up pretty quickly. But this time Kelly came with the one thing that can actually kill Ruby–the Kandarian dagger.

Kelly and the “she-devil” begin to battle out but Kelly knows it won’t be easy. She has also been waiting a very long time to go one-on-one with evil Ruby. Kelly fights hard but she admires Kelly’s intensity. Ruby clearly overpowers her but Kelly has another trick up her sleeve. After Ruby seemingly breaks Kelly’s ankle and knocks away the dagger, Kelly throws a grenade and blows Ruby to pieces.

“Like daughter, like Dad”

Brandy and Ash pull up to the house as someone is watching them from across the street. Brandy is still in shock how much her life has changed in the past few days. Ash and Brandy are finally getting along and they bond over a few Pop Tarts. As Brandy goes to clean up, a group knocks on the door and they happen to be more members of the Knights of Sumeria. They too have a message that the world is in grave danger so they are seeking out Ash. The Knights believe they can finally end this war. He tells them about the lost pages and the secrets in the cellar so he takes them to the hardware store.

Ash tells the Knights about Ruby being the Dark One and they explain that he needs the Necronomicon to banish evil. Unfortunately, Ruby still has her hands on the book but hopefully, the cellar’s wall contains some answers. The woman believes their fellow Knight translated the lost pages onto the walls for his friends to find so they could open rift. The word “rift” brings back bad memories to Ash, cue in a flashback to Army of Darkness. The Knights think the rift is a portal to the deadlands and Ash could lead them to the eternal battle against evil.

Gladiator time

After the explosion, Ruby is missing most of her limbs. To Kelly’s dismay, the limbs go crawling back to their owner. Ruby taunts Kelly that she gave her a chance to join her but Kelly has had enough. With everything she has been through, Kelly is certainly not backing down now even though Ruby gives her a chance to leave. The two fierce women go toe-to-toe for round two.

Ruby still has the advantage but Kelly gives it all she has. The Ghost Beater tries one last move but it proves unsuccessful. As Kelly charges at Ruby, the two fall to the ground. Sadly, Ruby stabs Kelly with the dagger. As Kelly is bleeding out on the floor, Ruby proclaims that out of all of them, she hates Kelly the least. After the sweet moment that Kelly and Pablo shared the last episode, it would be devastating if this is the true end of Kelly’s arc.

Pablo’s powers

Pablo has a vision that Ash is in danger so he leaves Brandy by herself to go the hardware store. He walks in on Ash’s discussion with the Knights and is seeing the cellar for the first time. Pablo is worried about Ash but instantly drawn to the ancient text on the wall. HIs hands are drawn to the wall and he begins deciphering the text. This may be what Ray Santiago was hinting at when we interviewed him ahead of the season. The rift begins to open but Ash stops him. The Knights want to go through the rift but instead, they decide one will go through to investigate.

The man, Marcus, is immediately spit out of the rift. Pablo has a bad feeling, although it might be from what happened to Kelly. Marcus seems fine at first but he then turns into some terrifying creature. This isn’t the typical deadite, this is some demonic two-headed monster that can spit black goo and burn you at the touch. Pablo tries to use the chainsaw it gets stuck in the ceiling. Ash eventually gets it back and defeats the creature. The woman is the only surviving member of the Knights of Sumeria. Pablo needs to figure out how to close the rift so no more demons escape.

Ruby’s finds a host

Ruby opens the Necronomicon and Kaya gives her the message that the rift has been open. She doesn’t have much time so she uses the dagger still impaled into Kelly and performs some sort of ritual with it. Kelly comes back to life but this is not Kelly. Ruby has transported Kaya into Kelly’s body. She can now use Kaya in disguise to get to Brandy. By the time Ash makes it back to the house, Kaya is already there but completely acts like Kelly so there is no suspicion–at least for now.
