Review: With the theme of Adventure, Funko’s Disney Treasures April 2018 box managed to deliver big with an incredible array of Disney inspired Funko products!

After making a pit stop at the Ever After Castle in February with a box dedicated to some of Disney’s most iconic duos, Funko’s Disney Treasures service took fans on one final adventure as part of its time as a subscription service.

With such a broad theme, the number of characters which could join Funko for its Adventure-themed box were endless. However, in typical fashion, Funko managed to pleasantly surprise us with its selections via a box that left us feeling melancholy about the decision to end the subscription service’s run.

Warning: The following post contains spoilers regarding the items within the April 2018 Disney Treasures box. If you have not yet received your box and want to avoid spoilers this is where you should leave us.

As we begin our adventure, it seems only fitting that we kick things off with the help of Peter Pan who makes his way into the month’s box via our monthly patch. Given that Captain Hook helped kick off our journey via an appearance in the first Disney Treasures box, it seems only fitting that Peter Pan take center stage this month to help bring things full circle.

Up next we have our monthly pin which features yet another iconic adventurer in Disney’s Robin Hood! It’s nice to see Robin Hood featured in the box, thought I would have loved to see him incorporated in a somewhat larger role just because he’s one of my favorite Disney heroes!

Moving on to our Mystery Mini/Tin combo, we find Elastigirl taking center stage! As someone who has never been the biggest fan of The Incredibles, I would have much rather seen another character featured as the month’s Mystery Mini; however, I have to admit that the figure is equally as cute as some of the other figures we’ve seen in past months.

No matter what the future holds for the Disney Treasures line, one thing I do hope is that Funko continues to incorporate the monthly Mystery Min/Tin combo as these have become one of my favorite items across their various subscription services and I would absolutely purchase these on their own if they became their own product line!

Stitch Pop! Luggage Tag

Next up we have an adorable Stitch Pop! Luggage Tag which is a fun and unique way to incorporate our favorite alien! This is an item and product line that I’m surprised Funko hasn’t released on a wider scale as the Pop! Luggage Tags are great way to incorporate the brand and characters we love in additional aspects of our lives!

You can guarantee I’ll be using this little guy the next time I hit the road and I’m sure the same can be said of other collectors.

Orville with Miss Bianca and Bernard Pop!

As someone who has long been awaiting the arrival of The Rescuers clan in the Funko-verse, I couldn’t have been more excited when I pulled the Orville (with Bianca and Bernard) Pop! from this month’s box! Funko made the wait well worth it with this Pop! figure which was the perfect way to finally deliver an item inspired by The Rescuers film franchise and wonderful way to incorporate the franchise’s three most iconic characters.

The amount of detail incorporated into this figure is impeccable! From the miniature Pop! versions of Bernard and Bianca riding aboard Orville to the details incorporated within the tuna can cargo carrier (i.e. Bernard and Bianca’s luggage or the matches in the matchbox seat), this Pop! might be one of Funko’s most detailed offerings yet and was the perfect way to bring this adventure to a close.

Final Look – Is It Worth It?

More from Remote Reviews

Each new Disney Treasures box promises to provide subscribers with a box filled with $50 worth of exclusive, high-quality Disney and Funko collectible products. With this in mind, let’s take a quick look at the estimated retail value of each of this month’s items:

  • Peter Pan Patch: $5-$7
  • Robin Hood Pin: $5-$7
  • Elastigirl Mystery Mini & Tin: $12-$15
  • Stitch Pop! Luggage Tag: $8-$12
  • Orville with Miss Bianca and Bernard Pop!: $35-$40

I’m going to be honest, this month’s Adventure box had me feeling a bit blue for the simply fact that the April Disney Treasures box stands as the final box as part of service’s subscription service. While Funko has announced that there are plans to move forward with the service in a new form via partnerships with yet to be revealed partners, I’m going to miss receiving this box most as it has quickly proven to be Funko’s strongest service.

Take for example this month’s offerings. We have yet another incredible Mystery Mini and Tin combo which pulled in Elastigirl from Incredibles II, a fun Peter Pan patch and Robin Hood pin and a Stitch luggage tag which is a great way to incorporate Stitch in the box while providing subscribers with a unique offering.

However, it’s the Orville Pop! which easily stole the show! This Pop! could have easily been deemed part of the Pop! Moments line as it beautifully captures the iconic moment in The Rescuers in which Bianca and Bernard board Orville for an unforgettable adventure. No detail was overlooked and this might have just become my new favorite Disney Pop! – or at least one of my Top 5.

There’s no denying that the Disney Treasures service ended its subscription run on a high note and I am truly looking forward to seeing what Funko has in store next for the line!
