Tessa Mossey breaks down Heidi’s return to Shadowhunters season 3

Her hunt to reunite with Simon

In Shadowhunters season 3, episode 4, we saw Heidi break into Simon’s boathouse and obsess over his belongings, but she hadn’t been able to track him down to his new apartment. It looks like that will be changing next week though because the photos released by Freeform for “A Window Into An Empty Room” show Heidi in Kyle and Simon’s living room.

Mossey explained that reason why Heidi is so consumed with finding Simon is because he’s one of the few people who ever treated her with kindness. “When she connects with someone who seems positive — and Simon is such an incredible person — she recognizes that and cannot let that go,” she explained. “It’s coming off of major abandonment issues that she has, and he’s her sire, so there’s that draw there already, that connection between the sire and the fledgling.”

So what does Heidi have in store for Simon once she does find him? “She’s excited to see him. She feels like this may finally be a change for her. Maybe this is someone who will finally care about her and be a great connection and friend,” Mossey said. “They had such a fun night (and maybe I’m going off this because Alberto and I had such an awesome time shooting), but Heidi and Simon did have such a great time together and they spent a lot of the night together.”

Even though it was the night she died, Heidi holds on dearly to the memory she has of her night with Simon at the bleeder den, a relationship she expects will continue in season 3. But Heidi doesn’t know that Maia’s now the picture, and Simon doesn’t know that Heidi was turned. “She feels that they had a such a deep connection that night, and she expects him to have felt that connection as well and at least want to continue exploring that relationship with her,” she said. “You can’t have one night with someone and expect them to marry you, but that’s kind of the mentality that she has. The thought of someone abandoning her after having a moment like that would be a big trigger for her.”
