Bob’s Burgers: Looking at Tina through the seasons
Season 2: “Bad Tina”
Unsurprisingly, Tina became a huge hit even in season 1. In season 2, Bob’s Burgers finally decided to shift the focus to just Tina. Entitled “Bad Tina,” this was the first episode with a character besides Bob featured in the title and the first one to specifically focus on one character’s plotline.
Enough bragging about “Bad Tina,” let’s get into what happened. In this season 2 episode, Tina becomes friends with a new girl, Tammy who convinces her to act badly. Unfortunately for Tina, Tammy is blackmailing her and will embarrass Tina by reading her erotic friend fiction. In true Tina fiction, she writes her own erotic friend fiction to take control.
How “Bad Tina” impacted Tina: This was a huge episode for Tina because we saw her making friends and eventually, realizing she deserves better. She makes some poor choices but still redeems herself. She’s also able to show off her creative side and feels almost no embarrassment after reading her Erotic Friend Fiction to everyone at school.
Season 2 wasn’t a huge Tina-centric season, but “Bad Tina” gave us a look at who Tina is, what she values and how she expresses herself. It’s an authentic albeit animated look at a normal teenager going through puberty.
