The first season of Celebrity Big Brother USA aired on CBS as a way to draw viewers away from the Winter Olympics. It worked and put a dent in the ratings for NBC this year.

Some viewers were shocked when Marissa Jaret Winokur won Season 1 of Celebrity Big Brother. It seemed like Ross Mathews was destined to win, especially after he ran the Big Brother house all winter. The CBB jury liked Marissa more, though, awarding her the $250,000 for first place.

When it comes to the television ratings, they were quite good. By all accounts, Celebrity Big Brother was a huge winner for CBS. This should give the network a lot of incentive to bring it back. That’s just one more reason for it to become a yearly event.

Arguments for Celebrity Big Brother 2

Positive aspects of having Celebrity Big Brother 2 don’t end with good ratings for CBS. The cast created a lot of buzz on social media, which is good for the reality competition show. It increases the number of people who want to participate. Maybe that will also lead to a great cast for Big Brother 20 this summer.

One downside was that not all the celebrities wanted to be in the house. Producers and the casting director could fix that, which might be easier with the first season in the books. Now, even more, celebrities have seen what it takes, which will only help in the long-term.

Big Brother 20 is in the wings

The Big Brother 20 cast may already be forming, as casting calls have been taking place for a while now. It doesn’t necessarily mean an announcement is close, but it does mean that the people in charge are hard at work. The season premiere should take place toward the end of June, giving CBS a lot of time to bombard the airwaves with advertisements. For fans excited for the show to return this summer, the wait won’t last much longer.
