Homeland: All In proves Carrie’s commitment
Carrie goes “All In” to prove Russian collusion, and the clock is ticking on the Presidency.
When Homeland left off with “Clarity,” the current administration was in serious trouble. The 25th Amendment was in play, and various players were stacking the deck against President Keane (Elizabeth Marvel). Her only real hope is for her personnel to link Simone Martin (Sandrine Holt) to the Russians, and prove Dante’s death is related.
Moreover, the family drama involving Carrie (Claire Danes) and Maggie (Amy Hargreaves). Is Carrie really going to let go of her daughter t hat easily? Custody for Carrie is clear, and nothing is clear for her.
The mission is a go!
Saul (Mandy Patinkin), Carrie, and a handful of Carrie’s team head to Moscow. Their mission is simple: ex-filtrate Simone from under the close watch of Yevgeny Gromov (Costa Ronin). Once in the U.S., she will prove the Russian link to conspiracy, multiple murders, and the attempt to topple President Keane.
Their plan involves meeting with Russian counterparts, where they feign an interest in other matters. While there, they request Yevgeny’s presence.
As soon as the Russians commit to bringing Yevgeny in for questioning, Carrie sends in her team for the ex-fil mission. Everything appears to be working perfectly as Yevgeny long-windedly stalls the proceedings, calling everything either a fabrication or an insult. He provides the perfect amount of time for the covert team to find and extract Simone. Even when Carrie and Saul show pictures of Yevgeny in the U.S., he denies.
The conference takes a break after a quick whisper into Mirov’s (Merab Ninidze) ear.
Paley digs for dirt.

While Saul and Carrie try to save the President abroad, Senator Paley (Dylan Baker) continues his witch hunt and attempts at usurpation.
Dar Adal gets a visit.
Paley sure does have a hatred for President Keane. One would think they used to be lovers or something. The clock ticks away on her administration, with all the talk of invoking the 25th Amendment, and Paley uses his time to get more supporting information for the ouster. He visits Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) in prison to figure out why Saul and crew have taken off for Moscow.
Clint gets a visit.
Clint (Peter Vack) is visited by Paley’s Chief of Staff (Sandra Belforte). He quickly spills the beans when pressured with prison. He informs her of Saul and Carrie’s true mission in Russia, which comes as a shock.
If Paley proceeds, then he doesn’t really care about America. In fact, his Chief tries to persuade him on the course of action even though they realize President Keane has actually been set up by Russian agents.
The whisper has repercussions.
Carrie’s team unlocks the door where Simone is staying. Dressed in black, walking slowly, covering all angles, they’re like multiple appendages of the same animal. Then, BOOM!, head shot. It’s an ambush.
Anson delivers a retaliatory head-shot as the team escapes in a stolen car.
We’re left wondering if the Russians figured it out, or if someone sold the team out.
Carrie thinks they knew, but Saul isn’t convinced. To follow-up, Carrie calls Max (Maury Sterling) and Sandy (Catherine Curtin) for help. In a matter of seconds, Sandy’s brilliance and expertise shines through. The agenda is to attack the fissures between the Russians. Specifically, hijack General Yakushin $300M in stolen money on ice. His cozy retirement fund is inaccessible because Yevgeny is stirring the pot, and it has thoroughly pissed Carrie off.
The Kremlin crumbles.
About 5 minutes after Saul tells Yakushin why his money has been seized, Yakushin goes into action. He unleashes the full fury of his office. As Carrie puts it, he has “30 men loaded for bear less than an hour after Saul squeezed [his] balls.” They’re headed straight to Mirov’s HQ, where they believe Simone is being held.
Carrie and team pretend to be part of the assault team, and Max leads her via phone to Simone’s location. Max also convinces Clint to tap into the Russian network they used before to blast this Russian coup all over the internet.
Carrie infiltrates the building with a stolen key card, and Max walks her in the backdoor to where Simone is hiding. Big problem, it’s one room over. Carrie has to tight-walk along a third floor balcony under windy conditions. Previous seasons did not divulge any parkour skills, so this might be Carrie’s most dangerous mission to date. Additionally, Max is pressuring her about time the entire time she’s scraping her cheek against brick.
The President has fallen.
While all of this is happening, the Supreme Court blocks Keane from firing her cabinet. VP Ralph Warner (Beau Bridges) arrives seconds later, and despite Keane’s best efforts, the VP basically says IDGAF, “Madam President, I am here to relieve you of your command.”
Next: Homeland introduces the 25th Amendment
Unsurprisingly, Carrie convinces Simone to jump ship. (Can invocation of the 25th Amendment be revoked?) Then Carrie puts herself in harm’s way, donning a black wig and handing Simone a blonde one. The ol’ switcheroo. Yevgeny is watching, however, and will send people to get his woman. That might not go so well when they find out it’s Carrie.
Homeland airs Sundays on Showtime.
