Six is only two episodes into the second season, and it’s already one of the most compelling shows on television. In Ghosts, the SEAL team and CIA inch closer to Rip’s killer and the terrorist network.

Now that Michael (Dominic Adams) is in custody, it’s time for the interrogation to begin. Considering Gina (Olivia Munn) used a baby as collateral in the season 2 premiere episode of Six, there’s a good chance she’s going to get information. It will be important for her to leverage support from the SEALS because they’re just itching to get revenge for Rip’s death.

Speaking of the SEAL team, this episode of Six further explores the concept of a leadership void created by Rip’s passing. One hothead may be more than enough for Bear (Barry Sloane) to handle, and a crazy addition to the team might make missions even more difficult.

Leadership conflicts exist on the team

With the flashback from the previous episode establishing Buddha (Juan Pablo Raba) as the guy who got skipped over for command, it’s understandable there would be some conflict between him and Bear. The conflict should be minimal, however, otherwise it borders on insubordination that wouldn’t exist in the military, much less on a SEAL team.

More from Drama

Buddha’s conflict with Rip’s murder runs deep. In fact, Rip was the person who gave Buddha his blood-soaked trident. Rip probably wouldn’t be pleased with Buddha’s attitude, especially since he and Alex (Kyle Schmid) didn’t follow the plan on their Dragan Baruti (Alexander Mandra) mission. If they followed orders, there might be a person to question instead of chunks to gather.

Other issues exist on the team

It seems the hard-charging lifestyle is taking its toll on just about everyone. Alex is having nosebleeds while in the missionary position with gorgeous JAG officers. He’s also having ringing headaches from just about every loud noise; they’re residual from the Dragan-bomb in the previous mission. To handle the pain, he’s doing what everyone does: crushing Oxy and taking five times the recommended dose. Bear saves him from the OD via slaps and a cold shower and lets him know another incident will not be tolerated.

Additionally, Bear is still battling with the infertility issues. Moreover, he’s having full-on, lucid hallucinations where he talks with Rip. Last but not least, Buddha and his wife Jackie (Nadine Velazquez) have to deal with Anabel (Jessica Garza), who is being a bit mischievous.

Rip’s not team leader anymore, but he’s still the star

Despite being hot-headed prior to and during the mission, Buddha is level-headed enough to confront Bear one on one about the butt chewing he and Alex just took. He believes Rip would have handled things differently.

Everyone still holds Rip in high regard, and the team has a bonfire to bid him adieu. Bear, Buddha, and Alex all give touching speeches. Subsequently, Bear talks to Lena (Brianne Davis) and she lets him know she wants to see other people (read: Jody has been calling.) Bear freaks out and has another hallucination. Suddenly he has the not only mental and infertility issues, he’s also got the same family problems plaguing Buddha.

The bonfire is a real touching way to Walton Goggins’ send-off. It feels like a loss to not only the SEAL team and Six as a show but also to the fans.

Gina interrogates Michael

Whatever the reason, there have been some serious female agents in recent film and television. In many ways, they are more intense than their male counterparts. Jessica Chastain in Zero Dark Thirty, Claire Danes in Homeland, and Anne Heche from The Brave come to mind. Well, Gina is the next in line, and she lives up to the reputation.

First of all, Gina is not buying any of Michael’s BS. He’s in Macedonia and dealing with her psychological warfare. Today’s regimen is headphones blasting what sounds like a continuous radio squelch and/or a whale with incredible breath control.

He denies sending Marissa (Katherine Evans) to shoot Rip. She asks him about other targets, and he’s still not real cooperative. She mentions his connection to The Prince, and he’s still resistant. When Michael plays the “I’m an American”-card, and she laughs about it. If she were to take a page from Vietnam-era interrogation, however, and hook his testicles up to a TA-1 field radio, he’d give up the entire terrorist network.

Gina’s history in Bosnia includes The Prince!

“His sandbox, his rules.”

Over a decade ago Gina had a mission in Bosnia, and she worked with an asset named John. Based upon interviews and previews, everyone knows John is actually The Prince, Tamerlin Shishoni. John even introduced Gina to his wife and son. Their mission introduces her to John’s informant, who provides information after getting a cigarette burn to the face. John subsequently slits his throat as Gina holds Buddha back with, “His sandbox, his rules.” The decision comes back to haunt her, however, when the team is ambushed at the target’s house. John runs off, and Gina shoots him at least once. Suffice to say, he will be very interested in reacquainting himself with Gina.

Flash forward, and she now knows that John is The Prince. She needs Michael to provide intel on The Prince. Michael refuses. The headphones go back in (the TA-1 would work better), and Michael starts to endure day two of advanced interrogation techniques. Gina looks on disinterestedly as Michael pisses his pants. Day three and Michael wants to negotiation, quid pro quo. “No can do, Mike,” and the headphones go in again. One day later and proof of The Prince’s order to kill Michael is provided, which causes Michael to pause. Hearing his mother on the phone adds even more pressure. Gina might be getting closer.
