Reverie‘s pilot episode certainly had some feelings of former movies and TV shows. There were elements that felt like you were back in the cult classic The Matrix and I got a sense of Twilight at one point when in the forest. Reverie Season 1, Episode 2 isn’t going to do anything to get away from some of those feelings, but it does allow you to focus more on the actual storyline.
This time, we don’t just meet someone who decides to live in a fantasy world instead of the real world out of grief. There’s an underlying reason for “Jane Bond,” as she’s nicknamed by Mara during the episode and the reason for the episode title, has decided to remain in her created world. In fact, this time, it’s more of a medical side effect than anything else.

And Jane Bond isn’t the only one suffering from a medical side effect from the system. Mara Kint’s visions of her niece are continuing to get worse. Paul already knows the potential side effects and believes they are temporary, but Mara has to follow his instructions. We’ve already seen that she’s not very good at doing that, but will she put her health first this time?

One thing we do get to see is more about Alexis. You may have guessed part of her backstory already, but I won’t spoil just how Dylan is connected to her in this preview. I’ll save it for the recap later.
If you found the first episode intriguing, I fully advise giving this episode a watch. I think this is going to be one of those shows that takes a couple of episodes to really get into and feel a connection with the characters. I’ve got screeners and I’ve certainly felt that way. If it was on Netflix, I think this would be one of those binge-watch shows and works better that way, but I do recommend delving into this second episode.
