Nashville Season 6B needs to give us more Avery as a dad
The Nashville Season 6B premiere gave us a sweet moment of Avery as a dad to Cadence. This is something we wish we could have seen more often in the series.
When it comes to best dads, Avery should be on the list. He stepped up when Cadence needed him the most. The Nashville Season 6B premiere treated us to a sweet moment, as Avery tucked Cadence in and read her stories–well, the same story three times. He showed us the type of dad he is, loving, kind, and caring.
Despite everything Juliette has put him through, Cadence has always been his number one priority. Yet, we don’t get to see him interact with her enough. This is likely linked to child labor laws and the ability to see Cadence on the screen much, but just a scene an episode or every two episodes would be enough to remind us just how much Avery has grown; show us the type of father others should aspire to be.

No matter what is going on in his life, he doesn’t take it out on Cadence. Other parents we’ve seen on TV haven’t had that restraint. And this comes from a character who was selfish and awful when we first met him; a character we didn’t know if we’d like to stick around for a full season. Avery has certainly grown and being a dad made that happen faster and greater.

With Nashville coming to an end, this is the time to start seeing this more. We need him as a dad more, especially as he moves into this storyline of helping Juliette out of this cult–at least, I assume that’s the direction his character will go. Don’t let us forget just how awesome of a dad he is.
One of the best things about the moment this week is he proved you don’t need to be tough to “be a man.” He would do anything for his daughter. Even when he’s fed up of reading the same book, he’ll do it for her because she loves it and she loves him. It’s a sacrifice we’ve all made as parents at some point–I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve read “One Mole Digging a Hole” to my daughters!
Give us more of men being loving and caring, of being family men. That’s what the world needs more of.
