5 Things we hope to see in the American Horror Story season 8 crossover

American Horror Story season 8 has been confirmed as the Coven and Murder House crossover season, which instantly gives us hope for several directions the series could take next.

For those of you who love or at the very least enjoy the FX series AHS, you know there is always talk of what has been the “best” season. Fans and critics often compare the first three seasons to debate which is best, (my personal choice is Asylum and Coven with Murder House rounding out third) but now we have been blessed with the news that the eighth installment will bridge Coven and Murder House for the ultimate American Horror Story crossover.

Ryan Murphy broke the news on Twitter, but the series has yet to begin filming so of course that leads us to speculate and share our wishes for the next chapter of AHS. Without any further hesitation, here are the top five things we are hoping to see transpire (or conjured up) from the highly anticipated American Horror Story season.

The second resurrection of Madison Montgomery.

Madison Montgomery was possibly the epitome of entertainment in AHS: Coven, stealing almost every scene she was given. From Emma Roberts ultimate depiction of the queen of mean to the witty one-liners she was provided with each episode, there’s no doubt Madison is a fan favorite character. Roberts portrayal of the which led to her playing a similar character in the Murphy series Scream Queens, countless GIFs, soundbites, and so much more that it’s hard to imagine not resurrecting Madison for another round of AHS. We have plenty of kind witches, so let’s spice things up with the return of Madison and make countless fans and viewers dreams come true. Also – is anyone else curious to see if Madison is related to the twisted Charles and Nora Montgomery?! The idea alone could be a great link to both seasons and would be a clever addition to the series lore.

The child of Tate and Vivian.

One thing AHS  has hinted at for years now is the birth of a child from a spirit and living person. The first example of this was the prophecy psychic Billie Dean revealed in season 1 which ended up being the child of Tate and Vivian. We saw a brief shot of the future where the child is assumed to hold a lot of power and it has been something Murphy has said he would love to return to since the first season concluded. On top of that, last year Murphy discussed the AHS  crossover and admitted that a character from season one would enter the world of season three at a “male, female witch academy.” My gut tells me the child has aged quite a bit and will enter the academy where we could learn more about the power and destiny of this end-of-days child. I’m in!

More from FX

The reign of Cordelia Foxx.

When we last saw Cordelia (played by AHS staple Sarah Paulson) she had become the true supreme and gone public for the first time. Opening the academy to the public by recruiting more witches was a bold choice – and also happens to be one we haven’t seen followed up on since Hotel. Even in AHS: Hotel, the reference was very brief and only saw the death of Queenie so it would be interesting to see Cordelia’s transition to Supreme and head witch in charge. Since Coven, AHS  has seen drastic changes in the world and one could assume the witches have since been targeted by others. It could be fun to see how Cordelia handles her leadership position, especially since there will most likely be another witch that hopes to siphon her power.

Constance and Fiona causing trouble for the masses.

Constance was last seen raising the hell-baby of Murder House, so if we end up seeing him in the academy that leaves a possibility that she has given him up or since died. Constance doesn’t exactly seem like the type to hand something she treasures to someone else, so if she isn’t around it would be nice to at least see her via flashback raising the hellion. When Fiona last appeared, she was stuck in her own personal hell similarly to Misty (justice for Misty.) With Fiona being such a powerful character in AHS, the idea of her being resurrected and bringing back the marvelous Jessica Lange would really return to that original AHS  ambiance we cherished so much.

Make AHS 8 a true sequel.

The next season is probably limited in Murder House  references seeing as how almost all are deceased and stuck on the property, but there is plenty of opportunity to continue Coven. Witches are able to be resurrected so we could see many familiar faces, however the current cast list doesn’t include many returning players which leaves things up in the air. Obviously there is going to be some element of surprise, but I hope the main plot does incorporate the same characters, stories and spirit of Coven and Murder House  that made them both so popular to begin with. Seeing an overarching plot develop and utilizing former characters could be the next best possible step in the AHS  franchise.

Next: The Walking Dead: Two ways Andrew Lincoln could leave the series

Now that it’s confirmed to be the AHS crossover season we’ve been waiting for, what would you like to see in season 8?
