In the latest episode of Colony, Will and Broussard work together for the first this season. Meanwhile, Katie does some digging into where people are being sent, and Snyder visits the Seattle colony.

Last week’s episode of Colony introduced us to the workings of the Seattle colony before leaving us on an ominous note. Katie went to visit a family that was placed at an apartment complex, only to find that the entire building was empty. At the same time, Broussard showed up in Will’s car bringing us the long-awaited reunion that we had forgotten to expect.

The flashback?

More from Drama

The episode starts with a scene that might be a flashback, but also could be in the present. If you recall, Bram found people in pods last season. Upon opening one, a woman fell out and spewed black gunk. In our open, a man has apparently escaped one of these pods and is being chased through a building. He arrives at a ledge where another step would take him into a large body of water so he has to turn back. He’s subdued by Occupation forces who appear to not want to harm him.

This facility looks like it could be the building just offshore from the Seattle colony, but more on that later.

Broussard and Will

The major storyline of the episode follows Broussard and Will. Broussard explains to Will that he got in through a side gate with the help of a friend. He also tells Will about the plans he found for some sort of bioweapon and enlists Will to help him find out what it is. When Will mentions Katie, Broussard says he isn’t sure they can go to her because of her job.

Later in the episode, Broussard takes Will to meet Amy. He is suspicious of her because of the house she has but she explains that they gave it to her because she’s a doctor and Broussard backs her up on this. Broussard then tells Will that they’ve found a guy that they have identified as a courier who moves between dark sites in the colony. They haven’t been able to pin down his schedule, however, because they don’t have a car. That’s where Will comes in.

Stakeout

Will and Broussard do the staking out under the guise of Broussard being a paying passenger. At what appears to be an Occupation building, Will suddenly gets out of the car and walks over towards the target. He bumps him and a ton of security guys jump out. He plays it off like he’s looking for a rider and they let him go. Back at the car, Broussard is not happy about the move but Will explains that he wanted a closer look at the target’s security team.

Back at their house, Amy asks Broussard how the stakeout went with Will. She is suspicious of him and says that something bad happened to him that he’s not handling well. Broussard vouches for him, however, not realizing that she’s right.

Katie

After the events of last week’s episode, Katie is losing focus at work. She eventually decides to go to her boss for answers about the empty building and her boss basically tells her to do her job and stop worrying about it. Later, Katie asks another co-worker for a hard copy of which families are being assigned to the bus that her family got on last week.

Katie heads to the areas where the buses carry people to their new homes and assists an older man in getting on as an excuse to board. While riding, an announcement comes over the intercom that they are going to a “new colony” in Portland because of overpopulation in Seattle. The announcement makes it sound exciting by talking about them being the first settlers. However, when the bus stops and lets them out, Katie does not seem happy with what she is seeing.

Back at her job, Katie confronts her boss yet again and asks why people are being sent to Portland. Michelle has been incredibly patient with her and tells Katie that what happens after they do their job isn’t their business. She gives Katie yet another pass but tells her to take the rest of the day off.

Snyder

Snyder shows up in Seattle to meet with Everett Kynes (Wayne Brady). He’s there to see what he can learn about Seattle so he can apply it to the new Los Angeles bloc. He’s speaking in typical Snyder fashion but he seems to have met his match in Kynes.

Eventually, Kynes offers Snyder a tour and starts by going down to the front gates. They are taking in thousands at a time and Snyder is both impressed and confused at how they are feeding that many people. Kynes planned to show him how next.

We arrive at a lab where we find out that they’re growing food with alien technology. There are no fields or farming and the vegetables are grown in hours, not weeks. Snyder is the first person from the IGA to be made aware of this.

Back at his hotel Snyder tells someone on the phone how impressed he is with the Seattle colony. That is before he puts a jammer on the phone and tells this person that Kynes is in direct contact with the hosts and that they’ve given him unprecedented access to their technology. He believes that he’s using their tech for way more than growing vegetables.

Bram

Bram didn’t do a ton in this episode but we did learn that he’s joining the community patrol. We also see him ask Gracie about living with him so she can go to a better school.

The Mission

Later that night, Amy and Will are waiting for the target. The plan is for them to follow him, and corner him in an alley. Broussard is going to take out their tires while Will blocks them in with his car. Their goal is to take away the briefcase the man carries.

However, Will sees Snyder come out of the building just behind their man. He aborts the mission and tells Amy to get out of his car. He follows Snyder instead of their man but Amy decides to make the plan work. Without a car, she manages to move a dumpster into position to box the vehicle in. Broussard carries out his duty and Amy take off with the briefcase.

Results

Broussard hung around after to see the response to the hit. When he gets back to the house Amy is not happy and says that Will is unstable. Broussard is still defending him, saying that getting spooked doesn’t sound like Will. He goes on to tell Amy that it wasn’t community patrol that responded and that the men were looking for something, not responding to the scene of a crime.

When they open the briefcase, they find a weird material that molds to whatever touches it yet is bulletproof. It almost looks like a liquid but it stays together in a sheet form.

Home

At home that night, Katie tells Will that he was right about the colony and that something bad is happening. She also tells him about Bram joining the community patrol. He clearly doesn’t want to talk to her and despite her pleading for him to stay, he leaves.

Conclusion

Will goes to see Broussard and tells him that he aborted the mission because he saw Snyder. Broussard tries to find out what went down with Snyder and also asks about Charlie but it’s clear Will doesn’t want to talk about either. He does want Broussard’s help in getting to Snyder. He tells him that he’s going to kill Snyder after they get answers from him.

Next Episode

The next episode looks intense. Will does manage to corner Snyder at his hotel and they bring him to a secluded location for interrogation. It appears that he allows Katie and Bram to be there so hopefully this is a healing episode for the family. With that said, it’s not clear how Synder is going to make it out of this one.

Colony returns next Wednesday at 10/9 Central on USA Network.
