The ending of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom poses a new threat for the third and final film in the trilogy. With the sequel scheduled for 2021, here are predictions on what will happen. This article will contain spoilers.

“We’re entering a new era. Welcome to Jurassic World.”

These words spoken at the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom by Dr. Ian Malcom, played by Jeff Goldblum, have a much darker meaning than John Hammond’s “Welcome to Jurassic Park.” Thanks to the series of events that took place at the Lockwood Estate, a large group of dinosaurs were set free into the wild at the end of Fallen Kingdom. That’s in addition to the dinosaurs that were sold at the auction to arms dealers and billionaires.

As Dr. Malcom predicted correctly, humans and dinosaurs will now have to now coexist. The final shot of Blue overlooking a town opens a lot of doors for the third and final film in the Jurassic World trilogy. Not much is known about Jurassic World 3 besides the release date of June 11, 2021. Will humans and dinosaurs be at war? What will happen to Owen Grady and Claire Dearing? Will there be another island of dinosaurs? Here are five predictions for Jurassic World 3.

Dinosaurs will wipe out a percentage of the human population

Just like there was a time jump in Fallen Kingdom, there should be a time jump of a few years in Jurassic World 3. At that point, the surviving dinosaurs will have wreaked havoc on humans. The smaller ones might be able to be contained by humans, but gigantic dinosaurs like the T Rex and Mosasaurus will not be stopped from roaming freely. The carnivores will eventually need to find food, and they will turn to humans for it, wiping out a percentage of the population.

Human cloning will be a major storyline

One of the bigger reveals in Fallen Kingdom was the introduction of human cloning. Maise, the grand-daughter of Benjamin Lockwood, is a clone of Lockwood’s deceased daughter. Issues over human cloning ended the partnership between Lockwood and Hammond. When Eli Mills revealed that Maisie was a clone, he hinted that there might be other clones either alive or in development. Expect Jurassic World 3 to expand on human cloning, perhaps meeting more clones like Maisie.

Dinosaurs will be all over the world thanks to the auction at the Lockwood Estate

Maisie set a number of dinosaurs free from the Lockwood Estate, but those were not the only species brought into the world. There were a number of species sold to buyers at the auction and the end of Fallen Kingdom shows trucks that are carrying live dinosaurs and their genes. The power of genetically engineering dinosaurs is now worldwide, not just within the confines of the park. Expect these dinosaurs to be used for military and agricultural uses. However, just like in every Jurassic movie, something will go wrong and the dinosaurs will turn on humans.

Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler will have cameos in the final film

If Dr. Malcom returned in the Jurassic World trilogy, it only makes sense to bring back Dr. Grant, played by Sam Neill, and Dr. Sattler, played by Laura Dern. Neill had a starring role in Jurassic Park III while Dern had a brief appearance in the film as well. If Jurassic World 3 is the final film in the trilogy, it only makes sense for the two main characters of the franchise to return in some capacity to help in the war versus dinosaurs. Not much is known about Neill’s potential involvement, but Dern has expressed interest in returning to the franchise.

Blue will sacrifice herself to save Owen Grady

One could make a case that the best relationship in the film is between Owen Grady, played by Chris Pratt, and Blue, the last living Velociraptor that Grady trained. In both Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, Blue has come to the defense of Grady, saving him both times. I expect Blue to save Grady from imminent danger once more in the final film, but this time, she won’t survive. Blue’s sacrifice will be the perfect end to her relationship with Grady and show that dinosaurs can coexist with humans.
