Cloak & Dagger returns with an episode filled with investigating and searching for answers that aren’t necessarily going to come right away. Here’s our recap.

Ty and Tandy both decide that they want to do some undercover work on their own and it’s honestly hard to tell who is more dangerous between the drug dealers and Roxxon. Ty knows Duane, so he might be protected only slightly more. Tandy, on the other hand, has no direct contact at Roxxon, but is posing as Mina’s intern.

Since Tandy has been conning people for years, using her powers just gives her even more of an upper hand. Ty isn’t so great at manipulating people because he’s been quite the “choir boy” for most of his life. This offers up the opportunity for Tandy to dish out some advice to Ty, which let’s the two of them get to know one another a little more.

Detective O’Reilly is out with Detective Connors when Ty sees his chance to become one of the drug runners without asking this time. He just grabs the bag and returns it to Duane. Meanwhile, Tandy has no problem conning information out of Mina by doing her research and knowing just the right questions to ask (and answer).

Tandy even winds up taking some of Ty’s advice about making a friend. She goes to use her power on Mina, but finds that she can’t because in a way, she feels connected to her through her dad. Mina figures out who Tandy really is because she ended up asking too many questions and knew just a little too much.

Evita’s Aunt Clarisse is worried about Ty’s future. They know about the divine pairing and think that Ty makes up one half of it, but they have no clue about Tandy. The scenes with Evita and Clarisse really fit into the culture of New Orleans. Clarisse also knows that one will live and one will die between Ty and Tandy.

Duane figures out what Ty really wants and he won’t come forward about seeing Connors kill Billy because then he’d wind up dead. He sends Ty away when Connors shows up. Duane looks like he wants to do the right thing, but it’s probably hard to trust a drug dealer.

Tandy finds out where Mina’s dad is and goes there to apologize to her. Tandy uses her power on the dad instead since he’s not in a position to speak. She thinks she knows someone who can help him, though, so we’ll be seeing him again at some point.

Ty and Tandy don’t spend a ton of time together in this episode, but their respective stories are heating up. Ty outruns Connors just in time to transport himself to Tandy’s hideout. The two have that brief moment together, but Tandy can’t comfort Ty since their powers seem to reject each other.

In the next episode, we will see more of them together, but I hope they keep it going for the remainder of the season. While the two stories are interesting on their own, the characters excel when they interact with each other and help each other out.
