Hulu released a documentary for Castle Rock just ahead of the show’s premiere on July 25. Check it out.

Castle Rock is bringing the Stephen King universe to life in a new way. Instead of adapting on story or book of his, it pulls from many of his stories set in the town of Castle Rock, Maine. Today, Bloody Disgusting premiered The Search for Castle Rock, a roughly 25-minute documentary on the making of the show.

As a Stephen King fan, it was a no-brainer that I’d be checking out the show. I already watched through the documentary and it does a great job of giving us some insight into how Stephen King created the town. King lived in Durham and Bangor, Maine, so he pulled plenty of influence from both of those towns.

Throughout the documentary, we’re taken to specific locations that inspired King to use them in his stories. The cast and crew also pop in to talk about their process and their experiences with Stephen King’s work.

Stephen King fans should certainly be excited to check out Castle Rock soon. I had the chance to watch the first few episodes and I’m impressed with the show. Until it premieres, though, you’ll have to tide yourself over with this documentary. There are plenty of tidbits in it that many of us wouldn’t know otherwise. We learn that the show did at least some filming in Orange, Massachusetts, among other things.
