Dynasty will return without a major character for season 2
Dynasty season 2 will return in the fall, but it has already been revealed that the CW show will be coming back without a major character.
Season 1 ended with a shocking fire that left fans wondering who survived. At the end of the explosive finale, only Blake, Fallon and Sammy Jo managed to escape the fire. The trio gasped in helpless horror as the fire intensified without any sign of Cristal, Alexis, Michael or the newly married Steven escaping. Filming for season 2 has already begun, but already one main character is not returning.
Nathalie Kelley who portrays Cristal Carrington has already confirmed to Austrailian ENews! that she is not returning to Atlanta to film the second season of the CW show. Kelly cheerfully revealed that she has no idea what the writers will do with the character that she portrayed and even surmised what could have happened to Cristal by asking, “Is it a coma? Is it death? … I actually don’t know. But I know that I’m not going to Atlanta in July, that I’m staying [in LA]…. I’ve got my life back.”

Can anyone imagine Dynasty without Cristal? That seems absolutely impossible! Yet, there was a foreshadowing that Cristal was determined to leave at the end of the epic finale. Fans may recall that Blake’s private detective took photos of Cristal checking out a new condo that she planned on moving into, as she planned on springing a request for a divorce from Blake.
Throughout the first season, Blake was possessive and manipulative, basically trapping Cristal into staying with him. Cristal fought for their relationship but he was like a wall and she gave up on the relationship altogether.
Meanwhile in the finale, Blake made the big decision to give Cristal her freedom after confessing to Anders that he is doing this because he loves her so much. He planed to tell her after Steven and Sammy Jo’s wedding, but of course, never had the opportunity.
Now the question is why would Nathalie Kelley already reveal that she is not returning to the show and just keep that a surprise for the first episode of the second season? Does this mean that Cristal will come back from the dead, or Is this a modern twist to the 80s show and Cristal will be gone forever? This just really seems impossible!
This is a huge contrast to the other characters that remained missing at the end of the first season. James MacKay who portrays Steven Carrington has already posted on social media that he is filming season 2. Robert Christopher Riley who plays Michael Culhane has also posted on Instagram that he is back, although he joked “unless of course I am a ghost.”

Nicollett Sheridan, who jazzed up the show with her tongue in cheek portrayal of the conniving Alexis Carrington, was at the Upfronts in New York to promote season earlier this summer. So, why has it already been revealed that Cristal is not returning? I cannot imagine that this will be permanent. I suspect that Cristal will eventually return and cause some big trouble for Carrington Atlantic and perhaps even interrupt Alexis and Blake’s possible remarriage. I imagine she will pop in when we least expect it.
