Will Disney fire Dave Bautista and do a post-snap reboot of GOTG 3?

Could Dave Bautista’s disparaging statements towards Disney in his latest tweet lead to his dismissal? Will this recent debacle involving James Gunn cause a reboot?

Dave Bautista, an actor/wrestler who has been the most vocal on Twitter when it comes to James Gunn’s firing, took to Twitter yet again to voice his opinion. But this time, he took a step beyond his casting cohorts to make disparaging comments in the direction of Disney. Just like with Gunn, will Dave’s tweets lead to him being fired?

He did express that he’ll honor his contract, but if you read between the lines it doesn’t sound like he’ll do so with enthusiasm. And what company wants someone under their employ if they aren’t 100% in, at least in spirit and attitude. Employers care about that kind of thing and it seems Bautista is still highly soured on Disney’s decision.

Dave Bautista called on the carpet?

John Campea, who is pretty much in the know when it comes to the Hollywood process, expressed his thoughts via his YouTube channel. He said there’s no getting out of a contract unless you want to get out of acting altogether. Actors are obligated to stay on board, but from Dave Bautista’s point of view, it seems that he doesn’t have to like it.

More from Marvel Movies

Campea further expressed that chances are Disney’s people are talking to Dave’s people and predicted they’ll release him from his contractual obligation within the coming weeks.

"“But Dave Bautista is now the first guy to come out and openly, one of the cast members, to openly disparage Disney. Using a strong word like “nauseating” to work with them. This is clearly something, I guarantee to you right now, there are representatives from Disney talking to Dave Bautista representatives as we speak."

You seriously have to consider the kind of verbiage used against Disney is just going to stir the pot and it seems that Dave is implying he doesn’t want to even do Guardians of the Galaxy 3. His tweet does speak volumes and could quite possibly lead to consequences of parting ways with Disney. If he cannot break contract, then maybe Disney will do it for him?

"“I think we’re going to hear in the coming weeks that Disney is going to let Dave Bautista out of his contract.”"

This wouldn’t be surprising. That said, do you think Campea will call this?

Bautista fails to see Disney’s position

Grace Randolph of Beyond the Trailer noted that the actor may be kept off of the Avengers 4 press tour because the press will likely question Dave’s situation with Disney as it’s a rather juicy topic of discussion. Grace also said that she “realized that Bautista simply does not value the Disney brand”.

That said, there’s also a bias on Bautista’s part because he’s currently in the position he is in now because of James Gunn. As of now, the actor has a career in movies that’s on the upswing with other studios.

What if GOTG 3 is rebooted via Thanos’ post-snap?

Since rebooting of comic book movie universe had been prominent with Fox’s X-Men and Sony’s Spider-Man, wouldn’t you think this debacle of Gunn’s firing and Dave’s disparaging remarks trigger Disney/Marvel Studios into rebooting via Guardians 3? Are the brains in the think tanks of Kevin Feige, Bog Iger, and Alan Horn have contingencies set up for this very thing?

We’re far enough into the MCU phases where characters are being “snapped” away into oblivion and causing an easy out for characters’ possible returns or lack thereof. Forbes‘ contributor
Scott Mendelson reported that this could “represent a chance to experiment with the notion of soft reboots”. That Guardians 3 could be a first test subject.

He also noted a theoretical removal of the core characters of the team and figured that it may not be much skin off Disney/Marvel Studios’ financial teeth. Remember, they had already done their character rearrangement and additions with the earthbound heroes in Captain America: Civil War . The revolving door of characters in comics is not uncommon, so why not do the same in the MCU?

A blessing in disguise for Disney?

If you take a look at it from Disney’s business perspective, this debacle could be a blessing in disguise for them since the timing between the MCU phases are pretty much on point. If a social media debacle were to happen in FAVOR of Disney, it may have been right now.

In fact, Vulture and other outlets reported yet another statement from Dave Bautista about asking Disney to break contract with him if they don’t use James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 script.

Details are as follows straight from Dave:

"“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me.”"

Next. James Gunn’s GOTG cast release a signed statement. dark

So, if the earthbound heroes are replaceable, why should the cosmic characters be immune?
