4. Steven Universe

Of all the shows on this list, this is one most fans already watch. Created by Rebecca Sugar, a former Adventure Time employee, Sugar has sky-rocketed to fame. Steven Universe is easily one of the best shows to come out from an Adventure Time alum and is equally as beloved as its predecessor.

For those who don’t watch the show, it basically follows Steven learning his powers as a gem, his relationship with the fellow gems and it’s a coming-of-age story about him. Even though the show is named after Steven, almost all of the gems and fellow characters have a pretty decent following.

Since premiering in 2013, its fandom presence is huge. From fan art to fan fiction and merchandise, fans are absolutely taken with the show. Similar to Adventure Time, it’s more complex than it appears and a basic synopsis doesn’t do it justice.

Most notably, the show is getting its own movie and looks to continue on for at least a few more seasons. Another similarity it has with Adventure Time is its focus on larger themes. The show has featured plotlines about body image, self-worth, friendship, love, and relationships.

It’s also known for having LGBT+ representation. It’s perfect for fans of Adventure Time who want something similar to the show but not too closely related.
