Cape Feare (Season 5, Episode 2) is considered one of the greatest Sideshow Bob episodes!

Cape Feare starts off with Bart receiving threating letters written in blood and the family trying to figure out who is targeting him. There are three scenes one with Marge telling Bart she’s going to get him, which ends up being ice cream, Ned Flanders wearing Freddy Krueger gloves who tells Bart to say his prayers and at school, Mrs. Krabappel tells Bart, he’s going to be her murder victim. The murder victim for the Lizzie Borden production that is.  Lisa also thinks it was Moe because of Bart’s prank calls.

It’s then revealed that it was Sideshow Bob all long and that he’s up for parole. At his parole hearing Selma is there to testify against him (remember the episode Black Widower) and that he tried to kill her on their honeymoon. Bob’s lawyer asks the court how many people are thinking about killing her right now and Patty raises her hand.

The lawyer also talks about his tattoo Die Bart, Die. Bob tells the court that it’s German and the crowd believes that nobody who speaks German can be evil. So eventually Bob gets his parole granted.

The Simpson family go to the movies (the movie is Ernest Goes Somewhere Cheap) and there in front of them is Sideshow Bob smoking a cigar. They don’t realize it till he turns around. Marge then calls him an awful man and warns him to stay away from his son.

After unsuccessful attempts to get rid of Bob from harassing Bart, the Simpson family is placed in the Witness Relocation Program! They are changed to the Thompsons and move to Terror Lake. On their way there though Bob is under the car, which when he emerges from the car he keeps stepping on rakes ( the rake becomes a trademark).

Bart is on his way to school and sees that Bob has followed him. Bart runs home to tell his parents, but Homer doesn’t think it’s anything serious. The next scene is Sideshow Bob at a hotel (parodying Psycho) making plans on how he’s going to kill Bart.

While Bart is trying to sleep, he sees a knife come in his door and screams. It’s just Homer asking him if he wants some brownies and that he will cut them for him. Bart tells him that he’s a little edgy and that he would appreciate him to not come in his room brandishing a knife and screaming. It doesn’t take long before Homer comes back, this time he’s donning a hockey mask and asks, do you want to see my new chainsaw and hockey mask?

After the family turns off the lights Bob comes and cuts the rope from their houseboat. He goes into Bart’s room, which Bart screams for his parents. Bob tells him that they can’t help him right now, they are tied up along with the pets.

Sideshow Bob asks Bart if he has any last requests. Bart sees a sign that states that Springfield is 15 miles, so he then tells Bob that he has a beautiful voice and that he would like him to sing the entire score of the H.M.S. Pinafore.

By the time that Bob’s done singing and is about to murder Bart, the boat stops because of a rock. The police are there wearing robes and arrest him. Chief Wiggum informs Bob that it was a good thing the boat drifted by a brothel.

Bob is back in jail and the Simpsons can go back to their home. Grampa Simpson is waiting for them outside the house. He’s changed into a woman because he didn’t have his pills. Cape Feare then ends with Jasper courting Grampa Simpson.
