Chicago Fire may have lost Dawson, but there’s exciting news for Severide fans. Also, the show may finally get another LGBTQ character.

Chicago Fire Season 7 is gearing up for more character returns. Severide is possibly going to get a visit from his family, including his half-sister Katie. More exciting than this is for the show to finally get an LGBTQ character. It will be a first since Shay’s exit in the Season 3 premiere.

Right now, some of these possibilities are in the air. To get Katie back, Chicago Fire needs to work with The Magicians. Katie is played by Brittany Curran, who plays Fen on the magical series. Considering Katie would likely only be needed for a couple of episodes, it is possible, especially since The Magicians will be wrapping filming soon.

Katie hasn’t been seen since 2014. She and Otis had the cutest storyline but she left to follow her dreams with Otis’ full support. It’s time for her to come back and for the two to rekindle that romance.

The firefighting series also wants to bring back Severide’s mom and dad, played by the awesome Kim Delaney and Treat Williams. The two may be a little easier to bring in.

Bringing the whole of Severide’s family in suggests something serious. This could be the moment for a big family dinner with Stella. Could it mean a proposal is on the way? We’d all like to hope, right?

The most important spoilery tidbit from TVLine this week is that there’s a chance a new LGBTQ character is going to be written into Chicago Fire. We haven’t had one since Shay’s departure in the Season 3 premiere. And while I love that Lauren Graham is doing well on Lucifer, I miss Shay.

Her sexuality wasn’t a huge part of the overall story, but an important part of who she was. The acceptance from the whole firehouse and the hope that it brought to others was an essential part of the series. It’s time for the show to get back to that. Will this character be a firefighter or a paramedic? That’s something we’ll have to find out, but I hope firefighter.
