Shameless season 9, episode 5 preview: Is this the end for Ian Gallagher, too?

In the latest episode of Shameless, Ian’s caught in the middle and makes a bold decision. Are we about to lose another Gallagher in season 9?
Following the 100th episode of Shameless, it seems that anything could happen, like Mo White winning the election in a shocking (and very literal) upset. And something else surprising that just might happen: Ian leaving. Let’s look at the facts, people. He hasn’t been comfortable in his own skin since being released from prison, looking high and low for signs from Shim. But now Ian’s facing pressure from Fiona and his Gay Jesus team as his trial looms, and he’s a flight risk.
The trailer for the episode shows Ian, red hair dyed the darkest shade of brown, at a train station. Paired with Cameron Monagahan’s cryptic Instagram post telling fans to tune into this week’s episode of Shameless because it features “important moments for my character and his arc,” it sounds like a departure, huh? Elsewhere in the episode, Frank faces new complications with his liver medication and guest star Katey Sagal, while Lip attempts to keep strong amid temptation after making a tough call on caring for Xan.
