ABC executives fear The Conners will fail without Roseanne Barr
By Sefket Nouri
ABC executives have spoken out fearing that The Conners will fail without Roseanne Barr involved in the show. Did they pull the plug too quickly?
This doesn’t sound good. According to Daily Mail, two ABC executives believe they made a rushed decision by the ABC president to pull the plug on Roseanne. You know you have a problem with top brass to admit something like this to the media. They said that they should have launched an investigation and not of acted so quickly.
The comments on social media caught ABC’s attention since every time a promo for The Conners was released, fans are quick to bash ABC and say that they want Roseanne back. It is making it extremely difficult for the marketing team to promote the show.
I’m not sure on what to say here. Actions do have consequences, especially with what Roseanne Barr tweeted. A suspension may have been a more appropriate action to take rather than firing her and making her lose all property for the show.

The fans are outraged since Roseanne Barr is what helped them boost their careers. Many are taking if as if the cast didn’t appreciate anything she has done for them and threw her under the bus. Now they want the show to fail.
"‘We didn’t think it through properly. What Roseanne did was wrong but we shouldn’t have rushed to fire her. It was almost a knee-jerk reaction by Ben [Sherwood] and Channing [Dungey] who should have launched an investigation,’ one insider said."
One top brass at ABC suggested they could have suspended Roseanne Barr from the first few episodes without pay and had her return later on in the season.
"‘This would have given them more time to listen to the public, advertisers and cast members to determine the best decision.’‘The marketing and publicity teams are horrified as no matter what promotional material is released – and let’s be honest it’s been limited for a show that launches next Tuesday – Roseanne’s fans come out in force stating that they won’t watch the show."
I think they should have had a meeting face-to-face. The way it was handled with firing Roseanne Barr may have been too harsh.
Is it too late to call Roseanne Barr and ask her to come back? But if they do that, they may look bad considering the result of what happened. One of the higher ups at ABC did mention that there is always a possibility to bring her back since Dan passed away in Roseanne and now he’s a star in The Conners.
