The Charmed reboot has pulled in a reasonable amount of viewers for The CW. In fact, it’s at Supernatural Season 14 level.

Considering the hype around the Charmed reboot, it’s not surprising that the ratings and viewership were higher than one of The CW’s other new shows, All American. When something has a lot of controversy around it, I know that the premiere is going to have a decent amount of viewers. And Charmed‘s was on a Supernatural-level.

Whether this was all hopeful fans of the show or just those who watched to nit-pick at every detail because they immediately hated it is unknown. But that doesn’t really matter right now in terms of viewer ratings.

In terms of audience size, preliminary ratings show the Charmed pilot pulled in 1.541 million viewers and got a 0.5 rating in the demographic (the 18-49-year-olds), according to TV Series Finale. The CW’s longest-running series, Supernatural, pulled in very similar ratings on Thursday night (Charmed actually pulled in more viewers overall). These ratings sound low compared to other networks, but The CW is routinely lower and that’s not a major problem for the network.

More from CW

Compared to Wednesday’s premiere of All AmericanCharmed performed better. The high school American football drama only pulled in 0.2 in the demo and 0.685 million overall, according to TV Series Finale. That’s not great news for a fall series. Legacies is still to air its premiere on Oct. 25, so we’ll get a better sense of the more popular new series then.

Another show to look at is Sunday night’s 8 p.m. show. Supergirl was the lead-in for Charmed and pulled in some very similar results. In fact, The CW saw extra people tune in for Charmed in the next hour, as Supergirl got 0.5 in the demo and 1.526 million. That suggests people were looking out for it.

What will be the true determination for the reboot is next week’s episode. How many tuned in for the pilot just to see what it was like? I’ll hold my hand up right there. I wanted to give the show a chance. Now, I always watch at least the first two or three episodes to get a true feel for the show (pilots aren’t written for us), but how many others are like that?

We’ll have to see how the ratings hold next week. However, so far, Charmed did better than likely many expected for the series premiere.
