Dynasty power rankings: Kirby unleashes a paternity bombshell at Steven’s baby shower
By Reed Gaudens
During Steven’s baby shower, Kirby spills some dirty little secrets, and Dynasty drops two paternity bombs for the price of one. So, who’s the father?
You could say that Dynasty consistently delivers shocking moments like they’re last season’s stock and quickly running out of value. But the latest episode served up Season 2’s first genuine jaw-dropping moment on a diamond-encrusted silver platter. Note to self: Never expect a Carrington-sponsored event to end without multiple category five secrets shaking the whole table.
While Sammy Jo plans Steven’s baby shower for his child with Melissa with the best of intentions, Kirby’s intentions for her hastily-executed entertainment aren’t as genuine. In one fell swoop, Kirby manages to clear her name and pull the pin on a double whammy paternity grenade. Who’s the father and who’s not the father? Here’s how the power struggle stacked up in the latest episode of Dynasty Season 2. (Warning: Spoilers ahead.)

1. Kirby
It only took two episodes for Kirby to climb her way to the highest position of power. Miss New Zealand Bella Thorne did not come to play, and she’s here to stay. She bursts into the manor angry and out for Fallon’s blood. Thanks to Fallon pressing charges, Kirby must take court-appointed therapy, which actually acts as a blessing in disguise.
With the help of hypnosis, Kirby unlocks repressed memories dating back to her ousting from the manor. She recalls an argument about an affair between her father, Anders, and Alexis, during which Alexis confirms that Anders is the father. Kirby assumes Fallon is the child in question, but while delivering this news at the baby shower, Anders admits to fathering Steven.
2. Fallon
The contagious confidence that radiates from Fallon’s flawless highlight and contour will secure her place at the upper rankings for all time. She might be caught in a sticky situation with the Van Kirks, but our girl always has an exit strategy. Fallon faces off with Liam’s demeaning and relentless mother Laura (guest star Sharon Lawrence) in defense of her fake husband. After bonding with Liam, Fallon appears to delay the sale deal, much to the chagrin of Culhane, who’s making shady deals of his own. Still, she’s manning her own ship and in total control.
3. Cristal
What’s Cristal Jennings up to? It’s impossible to figure out, and that’s why she has more power than we realize. Cristal uses her “friendship” with Cristal, whom we will now refer to as Celia to avoid confusion, to get closer to Blake. She claims she gave Celia her identity while the former was sick in the hospital, and this spiritual proximity to his late wife leads Blake to give Cristal her clothes and take her on a date to Miami.
But Cristal makes him turn the plane around because it becomes clear as crystal (pun definitely intended) she’s a placeholder, a mere Cristal 2.0 stand-in. When she announces her departure from the manor, Blake asks her to stay, but she declines. That, dear reader, is her power. She’s got him right where she wants him. Again, we don’t know where that is, but we’re willing to assume she’s playing Blake like a fiddle.
4. Alexis
Week by week, Alexis can’t seem to grab hold of a rung on the power hierarchy ladder. This week, she’s exposed as the one who framed Kirby with the fire in Fallon’s room to have her removed from the manor before she could spill the tea on Alexis’ affair with Anders. Not to mention, Alexis offered to throw Melissa’s baby shower under false pretenses. Although she never had the opportunity to steal Melissa’s thunder as promised, she sure gave it her best shot to make sure Steven wouldn’t have been swindled.
5. Steven
Look, it’s not often that our sweet guy gets a single shred of power (mostly because he doesn’t want it, and that’s why he spends the majority of his time absolutely stupefied). But you have to admit that Steven gained a fair amount of leverage after tonight’s episode. You don’t discover that your father isn’t actually your father and that you haven’t actually fathered a child without using those emotional traumas as ammo. He’ll be navigating between the Blake vs. Anders minefield while also unpacking Melissa’s attempted extortion. (The real father? Her gynecologist.)
Honorable Mentions:
- Cristal gives Sammy Jo a locket that she claims belonged to Celia and swaps one of Celia’s favorite platitudes. Is Cristal duping Sam, or does any of this raise red flags?
- Fallon might be underestimating Laura, and let’s not forget that Mora Van Kirk, wherever she might be mourning her husband, could still cause trouble.
- Speaking of trouble, Culhane’s deal with Ada Stone? Those are strings, Pinocchio.
- How will Blake react to the news of Steven’s true paternity? Anders could be the next one headed out the doors of the manor.
