2. Season 6 – “The One Where Ross Got High”

Time to award the silver medal to the Season 6 Thanksgiving special, “The One Where Ross Got High.” This one has a brilliantly layered story line to go with a brilliantly layered trifle.

This episode is a non-stop barrage of secrets being revealed. Monica and Ross’s parents come over for Thanksgiving dinner, and both Chandler and Monica are hoping to bring up the subject of the two of them dating and living together.

However, things don’t go according to plan, because the parents don’t like Chandler. But why? This is the sixth season and we’re only now learning that the Gellers don’t like Chandler.

Ross is the one to solve the mystery. It’s all because of a time Chandler got high in college. The only problem is that Chandler didn’t get high. Ross did, but he told his mom and dad it was Chandler in order to avoid trouble.

Neither Monica nor Chandler are okay with this, so they make him come clean. This sparks a sibling war as Ross doesn’t want to look like the troublemaker of the family. So he reveals all of Monica’s secrets to his parents, only for Monica to reveal some of Ross’.

It all ends well for Chandler, as he finally wins over his girlfriends’ parents.

During all of this, Rachel is creating her own disaster. She makes a trifle from scratch; it contains layers of ladyfingers, jam and custard on top of beef, custard peas, bananas and whipped cream. Yes, that’s right: beef.

Everyone tries not to not hurt her feeling and make excuses to go eat their portions elsewhere in the apartment, so they can throw it out. Joey, of course, happily eats the whole thing. After all, whats not to like? Jam, good. Custard, good, Beef, good.
