Peace between the Mayans M.C. and the Sons of Anarchy is doomed. The near future for both clubs is destined to fail for multiple reasons.

The explosive first season finale of Mayans M.C. may have set up a no win situation for peace between the clubs. Fans of SOA will recall the current peace was not always enjoyed. There is a troubled past that could quickly turn based on recent events.

There are at least three good reasons why a future war between clubs is ensuing. Unless all of the following is hashed out immediately, there will be bloodshed and a broken bond.

How did the partnership start?

Thinking about lasting peace must start with who made the deal between charters. That’s Jax Teller and Marcus Alvarez, for the SOA and Mayans M.C., respectively. Since Mayans M.C. is set in a post-Jax Teller world, he’s obviously not alive. Additionally, Marcus Alvarez appears to have left his club on the season finale of Mayans M.C., much to the dismay of club leadership. And this is after Marcus mentioned the past violence between the clubs.

With both leaders gone, there is no real incentive to continue the partnership. Soldiers without leaders are prone to anarchy. Why abide by promises of the past when there are new deals to be brokered and there is new money to be had?

Vengeance

If the Mayans M.C. first season finale is any indication, EZ (JD Pardo) is about to commit a partnership-breaking act. The entirety of the first season provided glimpses and flashbacks about the person who killed EZ’s mother, and eventually led to his incarceration. Based purely on EZ’s impeccable memory and intuition, it appears that gravel-voiced Happy (David Labrava) may have been involved.

Whether Happy was the trigger man, getaway driver, or simply ended up stealing the car from the real killer at a later time is unknown. Linking him to the crime, however, is a done deal as far as EZ is concerned. Obtaining revenge would sever the tenuous peace between clubs.

The gun deal

A major part of this that most are probably not considering is the all the illegal gun sales. With the Mayans M.C. in between Los Olvidados and the cartel, that puts them in the middle of two gun transactions. Not only are they ensuring that joint venture goes off without a hitch – make no mistake, Nestor’s (Gino Vento) contacts will deliver guns to Adelita’s (Carla Baratta) rebels – but they also stand to profit by bridging the gap between SOA-delivered, IRA-furnished illegal arms and the Galindo Cartel. How long will it be before the Sons decide to cut out the Mayans?
