While there’s no limit to the trouble the Simpsons can get into at home, they also have plenty of fun when they leave Springfield and spend some time elsewhere. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in another city, another country, or on another planet, because the Simpsons will always be themselves.

Here are four nautically themed episodes of The Simpsons that prove that Springfield’s most famous family can get into just as much trouble when they spend some time on the water.

Bonfire of the Manatees

One day Marge gets fed up with Homer’s behavior and goes on a drive to help calm down. She winds up near the ocean and meets Dr. Caleb Thorn (Alec Baldwin), a scientist with a passion for helping manatees. Touched by his dedication, Marge joins him while Homer plans to use Marge’s newfound enthusiasm for manatees in order to win her back.

The Wife Aquatic

Homer decides to take the Simpsons on a surprise trip to Marge’s favorite childhood vacation spot. But when they get there it seems that the place has fallen on hard times. When Homer inadvertently burns down the pier, he’s forced to go on a fishing voyage that winds up bringing prosperity back to the sea town.

Homer’s Paternity Coot

A cache of frozen mail from the 1960’s is discovered and one of the letters is for Mona Simpson. They read it and are shocked when it suggests that Homer’s biological father might not be Grampa Simpson. The author of the letter turns out to be Mason Fairbanks (Michael York), a retired lifeguard who is now a treasure hunter and has a boat named The Son I Never Knew.

The Wettest Stories Ever Told

In this anthology episode, the Simpsons tell each other nautically themed stories while they wait for their food at the Frying Dutchman. The stories are parodies of famous sea voyage tales and the Simpsons find themselves in unique versions of the Pilgrims’ voyage on the Mayflower, Mutiny on the Bounty, and The Poseidon Adventure.
